I just realized how long your fuel line is! I could make 3 of mine from that! haha

Also, the breather in the back should have a filter on it, it's sucking dirty air inside the engine.

That's how mine is mounted, excuse the valve cover. I'll address that when I get some warm weather around here.

Yeah my old hose was too short for this carb, I figured it could be longer and have plenty of room to move or whatever. For the breather, it was originally hooked to the air filter housing but the new one i have doesn't have the hole in it. I never got around to drilling everything out and putting the adapter in. I don't quite have the spare cash to deal with that so I kind of tucked it under the current air filter and forgot about it Besides, doesn't that have air being sucked out of it going into the carb? Just like the front one there that is hooked to the main vacuum?

The one in the back on mine is the PCV valve and goes in the carb, the front oil breather cap on mine goes in the air filter assembly.

Filtered air goes in the breather and the PCV system pulls oil vapors into the intake.

Since you're up, get on the chat that's on the 78-96 bronco forums. It's titled Unofficial FTE Chat channel. About half way down the first page you'll see it.

But DSII coils to replace OEM are epoxy filled.
A lot of aftermarket ones are not.

Mine is mounted sideways. The original lasted 350k and 25 years.

Jim, it looks like my old air cleaner cleaned up nicely, or did you paint it?

It was on a 390 which was sporting a Q-Jet. Anyway, I think the coil was oil filled. But, it has been a year or 41 and I don't truly remember. The problem was that the solid wire coming from the low voltage input post had broken. I scraped the varnish off both sides, created a loop on each with a pair of long-nosed pliers, stuck a short piece of stranded wire in the loops, and crimped the solid wire. Problem solved.

I'm surprised a coil would still work after being chisled open.

I just split the case - and got lucky. We'd stopped about 1/2 between Phoenix and CA on I-10 at a rest stop. It was late at night and when we got back in the truck it wouldn't start. So we climbed in the camper and went to sleep. At first light I was up trying to determine why it wouldn't run and discovered the lack of fire. None of the other people parked there were up yet so there wasn't any way to get to town until they did. But, the coil was clearly bad so I couldn't make it any worse and might be able to make it better. I proceeded to split it open starting at the top crimp and worked my way down it gently to keep away from the wires. Sure enough, there was the problem staring me in the face.

So I drove the truck down the freeway a few miles for the first time today, LOUD. Whatever that thing has for a cam in it sucks. But on the way home getting back on the Freeway I wound up peeling rubber on the icy asphalt a bit around the corner. But it ran really good on the freeway and drove great. I don't get starter bounce back anymore but still the ping. I might get some octane booster and see what that does. But I noticed it ran way better on the way home after taking it on the freeway. Seemed to accelerate better and it got up to the full 180* temp after taking it on the freeway.

I will check a couple sparkplugs tomorrow if I think about it to see the color of them.

Oh yeah, to maintain 55-60 MPH I don't think I even hit 1/4 throttle, close to it though.
