Yeah, mine has one tiny spot of surface rust under it. But it's nothing bad. I took my valve body out, made lots of red rain. So far so good, I'll post pictures in a bit.
Hey Matt, which car show are you going to this year? I'm planning to take both my bronco and my beetle to Ed Britz's show up at Coastal. The plan is to have the same friend who went last year, drive the bronco while I take the beetle. I'm a little nervous cause I don't even like my family to drive the bronco, much less my friends. Since it's only down the road I figure I'll teach him how to handle it, then he should be fine.
I don't know about algona days but the one I'm going to is on July 20th. The show I'm going to is going to have the raffle prizes and stuff back. I just need to get the $40 for both vehicles.
It shifts like a slush-o-matic, I bought a shift improvement kit for it, I'll be doing the mild one out of the two options. The whole inside of the transmission looks very clean. I also have a new N code servo to install with a different spring included in the kit. I noticed when the VB was bolted together, there was a blue tag that says NJ on it. Is that someone's initials?

No, that is the suffix on the VB part number, it was to identify them on the assembly line. My C6 had a nice firm shift for it's entire 119,000 + miles.

It may have shifted better if the accumulator valve spring wasn't broken lol.
