Well, I got my new carb on and got the truck running. Runs MUCH better than the Edelbrock. Here's pictures.
The carburetor is a Summit Racing 600 CFM (Made by Holley) 4 barrel, vacuum secondaries carburetor. It's a re design of the Holley 4010, which was designed after the Autolite 4100. It has annular boosters, both primary and secondary. All I can say for performance is HANG ON when that pedal goes to the floor. Or even 1/4 throttle it lifts the front of the truck up from a slow speed. MUCH more power than the Edelbrock, runs smoother at cruise and is way more responsive. Oh, the exhaust also smells a lot cleaner with this carb than the Edelbrock. I'm very happy with it.
Hmm I spy a vacuum cruise control module right? How's that workin for ya? I had one on my 82 mustang but the diaphragm was trashed.
It's good that the carb is working for you. Mine is working well enough to keep the engine running. not good, not bad. The 6 mpg highway kills me though..
It looks good and runs great, I'll get a running video later today. I need to set the choke differently, after 5 minutes of sitting the high idle comes back on and doesn't want to kick off easily. Could be that it only has 7 volts going to it instead of 12? I still need to look down the carb while it's running. But it sure is responsive.
I think I'll just find a 12 V lead, where could I find one that's 12 volts with key on but not accessory? my fuse box seems to only have them that are key on and accessory.
The red wire to the duraspark box, coming out of the cab?
The box should have 2 groups of wires with plugs coming out of it, one with 3 wires, orange, green, and black iirc. And one with 2 wires red and white, that red one is keyed ignition 12V iirc.
Matthew, you could do what Ford did on some of the 351 chokes, use a relay, the 7 volts will pull the relay in, then use a fused wire from the battery. This way it will only heat once the alternator is charging.
