Looks like I made a stupid mistake earlier, I accidentally gave the choke thermostat MORE tension without realizing it. I backed the tension way off and it works pretty dang good now. Comes off fast and heats up quick now. I never usually make that stupid of a mistake.
Mine will start up like that cold with a manual choke, but I have to hold my foot on the throttle so it'll "fast idle". My linkage is broke on my fast idle cam.
I usually prime mine 2 or 3 pumps like you did yours.
How does it start hot? How's the Summit carburetor run?
It restarts really easy, sitting for 5-10 minutes, usually twitch the key. Sometimes let it crank for 2 seconds and tap the gas, it's running. The carb runs like a scalded ape. MUCH better than the Edelbrock.

Good to hear. That might be what ends up going on my 300 eventually.
Well today I found an key on (dead on accessory) 12 volt source for the choke, and what a difference there. Heats up fast now like it should. I also adjusted the float levels down a hair since they were just a hair high, and re adjusted the idle air screws. Runs even better now. The choke still cools off kinda fast but slower now since it gets hotter, and with it being a key on source I can let the choke heat back up for a few seconds before restarting. But it sure runs good, and looks like about half the fuel comes out of these boosters than the Edelbrock. So does that mean I'll get 22 mpg now?
Today I figured out why it wouldn't idle lower than 850 RPM in park, the secondary stop screw was holding the secondaries open too far, a little adjustment there and now I can get it to idle at 250 RPM. First I backed it off too far and the idle mixture screws didn't do much, open them up slightly more and everything's perfect. I also fiddled with the choke a tiny bit, it seems to work great now after it sits.
Yeah it's way too low lol. I have it set at 750-800 RPM in park and 500-525 in drive. I just did 250 for a video and to see if it would actually idle that low.
