So today I drove the truck about 10 miles, ran pretty good but it was light stumbling a lot from not enough accelerator pump shot, I fixed that. I retarded the timing back to 10* BTDC and backed the vacuum advance out and it seemed to help with the hot re start starter bounce back. I also got $75 in free gas today.
When the front tank reads 1/4 tank I have 9 gallons of gas left. Ford quality!
Also I adjusted my carb, it was slightly lean on the drivers side, runs even better now and sounds better. Oh yeah I get 20" of vacuum at idle now Gary Lewis.
I almost have enough money for an exhaust system now.
I suspect that this thing does pretty good on gas lol. On the way home from the gas station (5 miles) the fuel gauge went from over full to just under full. That thing is sensitive! the gas in the rear tank now sure helps with the ride.
You have DSII Matthew.
That module should retard the timing 3* while cranking.
This is to take the load off the starter for hot starts.
What brand of module are you using?

I don't know what one it is but it says made in china on it. So I suppose it doesn't have that feature. I wish it did.
This has been discussed at length here on FTE.
Motorcraft and NAPA Echlin ones are known to function properly.
Maybe you should keep an eye out for blue grommet ones at any junkyards or swap meets you go to?
I know I keep a spare under my seat anyhow. Just plug it in to get home.
I am! the gas in the back tank makes the ride better
Mine is a blue grommet DSII module, I'm eventually going to go with an aftermarket ignition system so I won't have a box anymore. For now it should be good to go.
Nope, not MSD. I was going to get Pertronix Ignitor 3 so it only has one or two wires coming out of the distributor.
I don't know on a Ford, but my friend who races vintage with an MG midget got talked into one of these. I don't like it, and out in the boonies where a lot of the road courses are parts are just simply not available. On race he had to go back to points, because I could find a set of Lucas points in Winchester, VA, but not anything for a Pertronix.

My local Oreilly's always seem to have Pertronix stuff stocked. If DSII was so good people wouldn't need to worry about their box crapping out and having to carry a spare...... Plus the wire harness mess on the drives inner fender is ugly.
It works, and works well up to about 6.500 rpm.
The dizzy has issues at that point.
10 years/100,000k miles, I wouldn't expect any other ignition component to be at it's best either at that point.
But hey, everyone wants something different.
I just want something that works.
