210 posts - did I miss any mention of the "Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act"
That act was passed to protect consumers. And it worked.
I was a Dodge tech from the late 70s to early 90's. I did a lot of power train repairs that absolutely should have been under warranty with no issues.
I did plenty of repairs under warranty where it was plain to see damage was caused lack of maintenance by the customer (e.g. never changing the oil).
Bottom line was issues similar to this one were repaired because it was impossible to prove that the failure or damage was caused either by something the customer did or failed to do.
And every time something new failed, repairs were expedited to get the failed parts back to Chrysler engineering.
Put me on the list I was due for a new Ford this year. My 2005 6.0 has 291,000 miles. I hate to say it but I'll probably be heading to GM this time. I hate the independent front end but otherwise they have a pretty solid truck. I will never work another Dodge talk about a piece of crap....but while under warranty they did cover it so who knows.
It would be interesting to know just how many of these valve failures have occured. I'd imagine it'd be pretty tough to get that info but I'd bet it's available if you're inside Ford in the right dept. I'm guessing that it is more prevelent than the HPFP failure and looks to be somewhat more expensive and has the addition disadvantage that you can't simply claim bad fuel. Seems like it'd be kinda tough to make a comprehensive insurance claim. Can you imagine trying to explain to an insurance agent why this should be covered?
The sponsored link in this forum right now is the "We own work - we want your super duty story" promo - wonder what they'd do with Randito's story? It's about work - or the lack thereof....?
Pam,
Your reference to the FOMOCO sponsored link got me thinking so I went cruising thru the site. There's a whole bunch of people promoting their truck and it's capabilities relating to their personal or professional use. I even saw one or two FTE members trucks there. So, I started wondering if Rick and Randy were to go there and post their stories, maybe the word would spread even further. There are also some various links to corporate hq, service dept, etc. Click on every link and I bet someone will come up with a way to garner more attention to the travesty going on here.

When Ford weaseled out on doing the right thing, I was forced to go to insurance. Here is why it works...and is justifiable. I will use the term loosely but the "experts" at Ford had made a determination that "water infiltration" had damaged the engine, not mechanical failure. The "experts" thus have eliminated mechanical failure from the equation. Mechanical failure would be warrantied. This places the failure into a "non owner induced" category of comprehensive insurance coverage. The owner had no more influence in the occurrence of the damage than he would if he took a rock in the windshield...according to the "experts" at Ford. With Randy's diagnosis of water damge, his situation would be the same.
My insurance adjuster asked about why my truck was not warrantied...I told him I did not know...ask Ford...he said they would, after they fixed my truck. At least one company I sent my hard earned cash for a product, stepped up to their responsibility...
I just called Rogers. Bill is......drumroll. ......$21,300.00. I told him I couldn't pick it up til Monday. He said he'd have my old motor and parts in the back of my truck. We shall see what's next????

Sounds like this is including over $3K in core charges. So if you didn't want the old hardware back it should be under $18K. I think...

This is an advertising site that's been setup and run by a company called Team Detroit. They are contracted by FoMoCo and would delete any such references pretty quick. I don't think it would help anyone to be honest.
Writing letters and such is all well and good, but there's a point where it becomes a smear campaign which does nothing but discredit we as members and FTE as a whole. I do NOT suggest doing this.
2004 F-150 5.4L FX4 bought brand new Sept '04 Still own ~85,000 miles ~$34K
2004 F-350 5.4L XLT bought brand new March '04 Traded in at ~ 128,000 mi for my first diesel. ~$32K
2008 F-350 6.4L FX4 bought used w/ ~19,000 mi from Ford Dealer ~$35K
2011 F-350 6.7L Lariat bought brand new Oct. '11 ~$54K
Approx $155,000 spent with Ford over 8 years, not to mention $thousands in parts, service, and accessories.
I never worried about my Fords much, Have bought the extended warrantee on all 4 of these trucks, specifically for the piece of mind that comes with it, and because of the rate that I put miles on the truck. I loved my 2011 Lariat until I read this thread, I honestly worry about driving it now. It was raining cats and dogs on my way to work yesterday- the kind of rain where people pull over under overpasses because the wipers can't keep the windshield clear to see. I was sweating it out- should I pull over? Is this rain gonna soak my filter? What if there's a huge puddle I don't see until I'm running through it at 50+ MPH? Is it going to ruin my engine?
I never worried about things like that before- This is the toughest strongest truck I've ever owned, I don't want to have to baby it! I want it to run down the road, like the big, bright red, fire breathing dragon that it is. This will always be in the back of my mind now- not because of the potential weakness, or ***** in it's armour- but because of the FoMoCo's "Don't give a ****" attitude about a customer whose obviously spent more money on Fords than I have, So what chance do I have?

I figured any negative comments would be censored. As to the "smear campaign". I say let em have it. They have already smeared their own reputation with the way they treat their customers. To remain silent is to give consent.

I would only consider it a smear if it were untrue. As long as folks are posting how a situation has made them feel, and just provides direction back to the source of the angst, it doesn't seem like a smear to me

You have got to be kidding me.....this is just wrong of them, absolutely wrong
I really can't believe what I'm reading...
I certainly hope this works for the best, they definitely did you wrong...
