anyone know if there would be water in the air box if water did indeed get into it. I will repeat what I said, if the truck was there for 2 weeks before they touched it. I personally think even a soaked filter would have dried up. ALSO I would expect to see a filter distorted with obvious bending and tore up. any pics of the air filter itself.

I believe it is ~ 12 hours when working with a long block and ~ 19 hours when working with a short block.

Keep in mind that those are service labor times for warranty repairs. Customer paid repairs do not have to go by the book and it is up to the dealer...

If what you say is true, then there is no doubt this dealership is using some shady practices to turn a profit. It may be wise to try and find other people who have had major service provided at this dealership and see if they had similar experiences with voiding warranties, sealing notes from Ford reps, etc. Oh, and it may be time to contact a lawyer.

Seems to me then a tech could work as slowly as he wants when the bill is from the customer and all would be billable hours.

With warranty work it's clear it's best to work as quickly as possible to make the most money.

Randy,
Why don't you email a link to this thread to the service manager at Roger Ford and GM?

If you like, I can do it on your behalf.

Randito said $20,000.
$10,000 for an engine replacement would be great.

And what are the odds that Ford will actually see that anyway? That's not Ford's site, just the corporate contact info. Need to send an email directly to Alan Mulally. Good luck finding that though.

Something smells to high heaven on this one if the bill is that high for parts. Can't tell whats included, but a look at Ed Tousley ford shows:

Any body feel free to post this anywhere it might be seen. I called the dealer in Odessa (20 miles) they said they didn't have a price for full engine but short block was $4800.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I have verified everything Randy has presented to us right now. I can't list where or the details without permission, but everything I've found is as Randy has specified.

This isn't looking good, and I'm not buying the explanation that I've been given. Stay tuned.

Thanks for working on this Tom. I have to say that, were I to find myself in a similar predicament, knowing I might find extra "muscle" here is very comforting. Here's hoping this doesn't become the norm, though.

That short block price matches what I posted earlier.

Almost seems like we have a shady dealer? Forget the denial of warranty for a minute, how do they justify the replacement costs? Sounds like you need some local help.
