You have to understand, the oilfield here has backed up everything. I was told they were 1 month behind going in. I did call around, heard the same with every ford dealer within range. I didn't think it would go like this. It sat at the dealership for 2 weeks, then when they told me it was a glowplug and needed to be torn down I figured, they were working on it. After teardown, I got on here and the powerstroke board. All agreed it was a bum deal, but i thought rogers would do the right thing, I thought surely they are not that stupid??? After he told me to take it somewhere else, I had already lost a lot of money from cancelling hunts, I really wanted to get my truck done. I did call around again, the best I could find was 3 weeks. I have the vin at my office. I'll post it tomorrow. If anyone wants to email me, I dont mind and would love some more help. My email is randito44@aol.com. I need my truck, as I have guys coming to hunt and my truck is rigged for a seat and lights and such. I told a guy at the powerstroke site, Cory, and he was really helpful. I got a call from ford, before the rep came and the guy from ford said it looked like rogers had their facts wrong. I told the dealer that (pissed him off) and they said they would wait for the rep to come. well, he came (I guess) and now the dealer says the file has already been closed, but he will try to get the notes from the rep.I'm ready to get this over with. Problem is, if I don't pay, I don't get my truck, but I will demand something from ford in writing before I write the check. What else can I do??
I am sorry but I am just not buying the water thing....
Water is in the cylinders as it is a product of combustion....
You can buy a kit and inject a 50/50 mix of WATER and methanol into your intake and not only do they say it is not BAD for the engine, they actually say it is GOOD for the engine. (I have never had water/meth system on a deisel so I don't know a lot about them though..)
wasn't trying to sell anything, just askng the question.
But as for water/meth, it is injected at WOT to prevent detonantion with more advanced timing or higher boost. I would think you'd be up to operating temp before you hit WOT which means you wouldn't have damp air on a cold glow plug with water/meth. Regardless, it's moot as it seems there is no reason/support for damp air to cause a glow plug failure. Truthfully, I am still learning about glow plugs as this is my first diesel which is why I asked the question. But the dumbest question is the one not asked IMO.
I also wanted to hurry and get my truck, that's why I agreed to pay, that was right after the ford guy called and said they had their fact wrong. Funny thing is, the day before the rep came, I walked in thru the service drive, and one of the regular service guy said, Hey, I guess they are going to warranty your truck, I asked him what?? and he said that's what I've heard, then.... NO> I do smell a rat here, but don't know who to contact. Ya'll have any connections with any upper ford guys>>??? I need help!!
Tough love time. If, indeed, I take your story as truth,
let me say this as kindly as I can since Darren is being so diplomatic...
YOU ARE GETTING RIPPED OFF. THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL YOU INGESTED ENOUGH WATER THROUGH THE AIR SYSTEM TO DESTROY THE MOTOR UNLESS YOU DROVE IT UNDERWATER.
Can't tell from your story who exactly is doing the ripping, but ripping is blatant. Did the truck stay on the side of the road for two weeks, or at the dealer? If at the dealer, why in the world did you leave it there? Why did you say that you'd pay for a motor prior to a diagnosis? After weeks of poor service and inattention, why did you leave it there? After not letting you talk to the Ford rep, why did you leave it there? After they didn't show you any paperwork from Ford, why did you leave it there? After they told you to take it somewhere else, why did you leave it there? Are they wanting a core charge to let you take the motor, or because they say the core is damaged?
While I have some compassion about your predicament, you have yet to demonstrate any evidence why I should continue doing so. You say you have multiple trucks in your business, which leads me to believe that you must have some sort of business sense. So let's see it.
And send your VIN to Crazy, else none of this ever happened.
Honestly... have to agree. I was reading through today's posts getting more and more infuriated and began having the same thought. I wouldn't have left my truck at a dealer if it sat for 3 days without attention, let alone weeks. Then everything after that, there are at least 5 times here where any reasonable person could have had their 60k vehicle taken to another dealer and there is no way in hell any reasonable person would actually pay this dealer a penny for this work under these circumstances. Randito... don't pay them a penny until you have something hard from Ford on this. You are getting ripped off.
Edit.... Randito just finished reading your replies to this. I'm trying to understand. Maybe you are just one of those rare really really "nice" guys out there that gets taken advantage of. But its hard to even read your story. I just don't understand how you could have let this go so far. Why didn't you call ford and elevate this as high as you could go immediately. Nothing about your dealer sounds legit. You are being taken on many levels. I don't understand how anyone could "need" a specific truck so badly that they are willing to be completely bent over and taken for 20k like this; and if you do need this particular truck that badly for your business, why in the world would you tolerate these kinds of enormous delays.
Call Ford.... Get "professional" (trying to stay within forum rules here) help in demanding a formal response from Ford on this.... Contact your insurance company and let them fight this for you. Just a few ideas.

Didn't mean to imply anyhting....I don't know either
ok I would first tell them they said its warrantied and who said it. next I would point out that it sat there for weeks before they even looked at it. I would assume they started it to run it and said glow plug. IF IT SAT FOR WEEKS HOW IS THE FILTER STILL GOING TO BE WET?!?!?!?! my contention is perhaps they had vandals come, the fact is the truck was in their custody and the filter ended up wet. since your are guiding I would assume there were people with you that can attest that you did not hit any water. witnesses are key.
if my truck broke there is any one of at least 4 dealers that I know of that would be working on my truck that day or the next without even having an appointment. it taking 2 weeks just to look at it aught to be a crime. I would say what I would do but its against the terms of services here. although its stupid because nothing we say here would end up being used in what I would do. they are too chicken to let it go that way here, just know it would involve witnesses thats all I am saying.

Will be interested in hearing if Crazy gets a VIN and can find anything out about this.
Read post #58 in this thread, we have had the VIN for quite some time.
IMHO, the guy is just in a hard spot and doesn't know what to do, can't say I blame him.....

Site rules prohibit me from providing the only reasonable advice I can think of. Good luck Randito.
Witnesses are only key in a situation where evidence and science support a conclusion. Not sure that's the case here. I'm still very interested in any written justification (sure as heck wouldn't be "notes") from Ford for denying warranty work.
If the dealer can't/won't provide this basic documentation, then I'm starting to think the dealer is trying to make a slick deal here.

Thanks Darren. It will be interesting to see if anything turns up. It is always hard to walk a mile in someone else's shoes, but I'm not sure I would have lasted 100 yards in Randito's without a meltdown.

LOL, you and me both. I would probably be in prison right now
I think it would be cool if you posted some pics of the torn down motor, I would like to judge for myself if there is 2 weeks worth of rust in the motor,
