[quote=donovan;10243592]That is the reason the the factory computer will not let you go above 1200 degress. If you chip a diesel you need gauges.
How does the stock engine know Turbo Temp? There is no Factory Pyro on the 7.3 6.0 or 6.4.
Also if your running a "Tuned" diesel and your EGT's are at a unsafe level, alot of times it just needs more fuel. Tuners can tax stock fuel sytems and cause a lean condition. Many Cummins guys I run around with put an AirDog kit on there trucks and the EGT probs go away, Same as a PowerStroke, Not enough fuel pressure to the injectors, and it will lean it out, (high egt's) and possible failed injectors!
And The 6.0 that blew by you was just getting to the top of the hill for better cell service, to order a pizza, in texas, didnt want to wait for it! Thats how much better a Diesel is! LOL
I change oil, fuel and oil filters, work on the brakes and drive it! There is no sense worrying, if it happens it happens. Chill out, I was only givin a hard time!

Not a problem, all in fun here too. I don't wish bad on any Ford owner regardless of what they drive.......even 6 leakers.

Fuel tables. If you know the amount of fuel and compression you can caculate EGT. My 6.0 at stock would not go over 1200 degrees. My 6.0 had lots of power until it reached that point.
Thats not true. The four threads they use are strong enough to have over 100 lb ft of torque put on them without stripping.
You just said it. The pre 03's 4 thread heads could withstand 100+ ft of tprque applied. What your not understanding is that force is a totally different force than the heat and pressure of compression. Time and time again everyday over 10s of 1000 miles. After 03 with the 8 threads the complaints sure did shrink.
I've never torqued sparkplugs. I had a 98' 5.4 that I changed the sparkplugs every 30,000 just because I hadn't noticed the maintance guide had said 1000 miles. I hand tighten then with socket 1/8 of a turn. I did the same thing with my 04. I never had a sparkplug spit. The problem is with the design. Dry and simple.
