Or, for the same money, he could have a V10 that won't leave him stranded.
There is a a reason the 6.0 has that reputation.
I didnt realise V10's never broke down - ever. My 6.0 has never left me stranded - anywhere in a 100k, but i would never stand here and tell you its never had issues. I should have bought 1 of those zero maintenance no cost ultra high horsepower 6.8 motors. Whats your fuel consumption by the way?
it will out pull any stock 460 or 7.3 that I have towed with.
I'm going to have to doubt this. The 460 makes 250-300 hp 400 fttq. The 2v 5.4 isn't anywhere in this spectrum. Don't get me wrong I love my 5.4s. I'm in debt again cause I wouldn't let her trade her 04 off. Anyone wanting to can look up my earlier posts when I had my 05. I hauled very heavy w/ it. I'm not saying it won't haul. I don't see in any stretch of the imagtion it out pulling the 460 or the 7.3.

I am pretty sure that at its best the 460 was 240 hp and 390 tq. My 5.4 is 260 hp and 350 tq. I have owned a couple of 7.5's and they would out pull my 5.4 up to about 2,500 rpm and then the 5.4 would pull ahead. The 7.5 was a beast in its day, but it was up against the likes of the 4.9, 5.0 and 5.8, engines that barely put out the power of a 4 cylinder now.

bill you must have missed the part of his post where he said he wanted a good towing truck. maybe not in his book but in mine that means a truck with good power and good fuel mileage. yes a v 10 can pull it but not get over 10 miles per gal. my 6.0 will pull the same load and get 13 to 14.
With all due respect, but this has to be one of the most ridiculous things I have ever read on here.
I have owned two 7.5's and one obs 7.3 and towed with two sd 7.3's. The 7.5's were better from idle to about 2500 rpm, but fell behind past that. Plus they got about 8 mpg. My 7.3 will maintain speed better in 5th gear, get better mpg's and require less downshifting, but it won't top a hill within 10 mph of my 5.4 if I let them downshift and them run where each engine makes the best power..
I know this is a ford forum but I have a dodge ram hemi that will out right rape the 5.4 power wise (if you think otherwise you are kidding yourself) and I towed our toy hauler trailer topping a hill called cajon pass on the I15 in socal at 45mph at 3500rpm in the peak power. Now our 7.3 rapes my hemi towing the same trailer which peaks the hill at 60mph. I like all truck btw.

Thousands of dollars less than your buy in cost and maintenance. Oh, I can tell you my V10 has had issues, like oil changes.......

How long did the trans in that dodge last? About 100 ft into that run?
That's funny, The owner of Roger's Transmissions, in Eureka, Ca swears Ford trannys are by far the worst. But then again, what could he possibly know? He only rebuilds them for a living...

In my experience, tranny shops are accurate about 60% of the time when it comes to actually needed transmission rebuilds. Most of the time a single component or something to that effect is the culprit and the shop just uses your limited knowledge of auto transmissions against you.
Remember they are in the business to make money, not to make your truck unbreakable.
