Yes, and it does it with a 3.5l V6 that will walk all over both your 7.3 and my 2V V10.

I think its funny that they are seen as boats. My '99 CVPI's curb weight is 34 lbs less than a new Challanger. It has beaten 'stangs autocrossing and drag racing and just last week I raced a Crossfire from a light and walked away from him.

That is surprisingly light. I want to say that is only 500lbs heavier than my Mustang scaled at and 700lbs lighter than my Explorer was.

4,200 lbs is correct for a fully equipped squad car.
A stock 98-02 is only 3,800.

I don't know the weight diffrence of the top of my head but the '03+ cars weigh more than the 98-02s.

They have more reinforcement around the fuel tank, don't they?

Slightly. The main thing is a sheild that keeps the fuel tank from getting penetrated in an accident. Thats why the police cars are rated to take a 70 MPH hit in the rear without a fire.

I am not sure. Every one I have worked on was gas.

The information on that site is badly outdated.

They have since fixed all new production cars and will sell the shielding for older cars for $170.00.

At 16 I badly wrecked my first CVPI and walked away with nothing but a few bruises.
They are very safe, tough cars.
