I didn't think so

A V10 F550 would have no problem with that load.
I already posted before, that while driving my sedan I quite often follow the V10 guys at 80+ mph (we do have 70 limit in CA)
Problem with them is that not much longer than 1 hr they have to pull over to gas station and I loose the radar shield

But with 5-Star Mike's tune to delay the converter lockup, the V10 performed better due to using another 1000 rpm's or so.
In my experiences towing all over the country with the V10 BEFORE I had my tunes from Mike...the power of the V10 BEGINS at 3000 RPMs and climbs like a frieght train up to about 4500 RPMs...that is the TRUE power band of the V10...

I posted the HP/Trq curve of the V10 a number of pages back...you can see the HP climbs very steadily over the full RPM range and the Trq is very flat between about 2000 and 4000 RPMs and falls off after 4000 RPMs...

Keep that V10 in that band and she runs and pulls like a scalded dog.

joe.

Yes, your concern about the turbo bearings can be an issue, but if you shut it off accidentally, just turn it right back on.

Yeah, those concerns would appear to be valid if we were talking about a brand new engine design or concept in turbo charged diesels... but in the case of the big three, they've been doing it for a little bit, y'know?

I live in the 7.3 forum, and that is where 90% of my posting is.

My statement was true, there are very few issues with injecting the fuel at 25,000 psi. There are some issues with the HPOP system occasionally (mainly on the 6.0 ) but they are not very common.

I have worked on many powerstrokes, and have never needed to change an HPOP, sometimes to upgrade, but never "needed" to.

7.3 injectors, (and 6.0 if they are well maintained) last a long time.
I have had 300,000 plus on original injectors. norm is around 200k.

One hour at 80 MPH I use about 6.5 gallons.
A V10 with the smallest tank can still run 4 hours at 80.
I can run 5.

Well, now it's who can drive longer on a tank of fuel

I got that V10 running (bad fuel pump) and I drove it.

Underpowered pile o scrap..... just joking.....

It was actually quite powerful after 3500 rpm.

You talk to him to see if he is willing to pull it with your 7.3?

That would make 12.3 mpg. Who is going to buy that?

The true distance between gas stations.

I have NEVER EVER made more then half a tank with my wife in tow. What really sucks is looking for a clean restroom. That adds hours to any trip.Bill is about right on the MPG at 80. I get about 12.x at that speed. I think that is the speed limit.Donovan
