You do realize how much smarter you are than your antagonist? You can't just start throwing numbers around without warning...

And the ability to turn 5000 RPM is an integral part of the 6.8 modular. When you insist on a rear axle that is appropriate for an engine with a 3500 RPM redline, you artificially restrict much of its ability--just like if you remove the turbo on a diesel.

DavidN,

Let me ask you a question...

Do you have children?...I do...the arguments being made in this thread lately are like I am trying to discuss things with my children when they were 2 and 4...

I'm not sure how anyone can conclude that this thread is about a motor ONLY and not being loaded inside a truck with transmission and gearing...but be that as it may...

Dad always taught me not to argue with idiots because that is what you become.

Joe.

Did you actually read what I posted? bill11012 wanted to know the good/bad about both motors. Others (I even include myself in that) changed this thread into the monstrosity has become. I'm sure if he wanted to ask about trans, DRW/SRW, or how well/much a particular setup tows he would have.

I'm not insisting on anything, just pointing out that after 700 pages, many people have lost fact that there's a difference between comparing motors and comparing trucks. Everything involving towing, drag racing, gas mileage, etc. is comparing the trucks if the associated trucks are not configured identically. Drivetrain differences such as transmissions, gearing, 4WD or 2WD, truck differences such as CC or Regular cab, empty gas tank or full, paint color (everyone knows black is faster) can all skew the results one way or the other.
When it's all said and done though... big deal.

PSD wins.

Only problem I ever had with a diesel is having to shut the engine off at the drive threw so the kid can hear me order the #3 with fries and a mello yello.

At least we agree on that. I have yet to figure out why vehicles are ever painted another color.

My GVW is like 9,200 pounds, so I am not considered a "truck" in Oregon with that load. So yes, technically it is 65 for the speed limit, so we were doing 70 for that portion of the trip (and only 65 in Eugene and 55 or whatever in Portland).

I just don't like people on forums trying to make other people look like they are committing a crime or something or endangering their family, of which I did neither. And other than going 5 mph over, yes we obeyed all laws in Oregon, and you don't know me or what I contribute to the state of Oregon and the local communities I visit.

Go back to your bunker and reload, I am going back in a few months, you might need to shoot at me to save your family.
Wow, I must have been sleeping to miss this... I stand corrected!......You know you are right, you ATV folks DO contribute a lot of money to the Oregon communities of Florence and Reedsport............Mostly in alcohol sales, Fines and Bail to Law enforcement, and frequent trips to PeaceHarbor Hospital in Florence for emergency medical aid, hell, you might even be able to catch a lifeflight to a Portland trauma center from there.........You want to take a shot at my firearms hobby, then its all fair play........Stop in at a local tavern on the coast and ask the locals what they feel about your "contribution" to their community...........They HATE the ATV crowd, make sure your rig is parked pointed back to WA in the parking lot......you may have to move quickly.

Don't bother with a witty reply,.. you made the ignore list........"poof" you no longer exist.

Sounds like the perfect place for my 5 dirtbikes and 2 sportbikes! Is Oregon near anything cool?

I drive as the conditions permit, sometimes 60, sometimes 65, sometimes 70, sometimes 75, and sometimes Oh ***** Slow Down! But either way, as with all means of transportation. the initial and greatest risk starts with getting in the vehicle in the first place, so in fact, the greatest risk to your family is actually... YOU.

Oh, and last "hill" I pulled was 6% for 5 miles.....
Chances are I would be pulling a trailer, but don't know for sure.
Yea, we don't have an long pulls here. I have heard there are some on I 10, but thats a long way from me.

If your pulling a trailer we can use that, if not I will provide mine and weight. 10,000 pounds is all I can do though if we use mine.

Awesome, mission accomplished.

And its not the gun hobby I am making fun of, is it the way your portray it, like you are living in a bunker hiding from everything using guns as your security blanket.

Either way, you obviously are not aware of what contributions I make to Oregon, which is fine, you probably wouldn't beleive me anyways.

Just because you like to hide in your hole and want every "outsider" away from you, doesn't mean that is the general feeling. In fact, the majority of small businesses in the Florence to Coos Bay corrider are around be because of people like me, which mean a significant portion of the jobs there are around because of people like me...

But I am ignored, so I assume there is no response!

Either way, I think the last couple pages are funny, we get into the "pull your turbo" and "oh yeah, pull two spark plugs" debate every few hundred pages, it was bound to come back!

Yeah, Oregon coast has some sweet dune riding. There are three areas within 45 miles of one another that have a cool mixture of dunes and sandy trails with big burms on the corners, pretty fun. For just dunes, I like the Idaho dunes better, but Oregon has a cool variety.

Pull up Coos Bay (southern end), Reedsport (middle), and Florence (north end) on Google earth and you will see the dunes by the coast.

Honestly, I don't like people that paint ATVrs/Dirt Bikers as evil when in reality, we support a lot of these communities. And areas get shut down because of the actions of a couple people get blown way out of proportion.
