Your higher HP in the " useful " powerband forces you to run a higher gear and put less power and torque to the road.
Huh? I don't understand. Are you saying its better pulling wise to run 1000 rpm under "peak" at WOT? If you are what's your thinking on that? @ 3300-3600 rpm I don't see myself struggling. I don't know what the grade is between pigion forge and gatlinburge but I can pull it at speedlimit and and room to accel. I drive under the limit. Why I keep saying that stretch of road is cause its the curvest and steep incline I can think of that anybody would prolly know on here.
I get much better fuel mileage than that.
I think my worst ever on road unloaded mileage was 9 MPGs.
At what speed?
My PSD in the "shoebox" I am driving can give me 14 mpg at 65mph. One time I drove it at 75mph and the mpg dropped below 10 (had a load on the bed, so this is not quite fair comparison, but gives an idea).
That is over 30% difference in fuel consumption just for the extra 10 mph.
How is a Dodge 1/2 ton outpulling an f150 or my duramax's struggle to tow bill's mom on topic?

As a reminder to all, the PSD in every form other than the 7.3 and 6.0 is superior to all other motors. The 7.3 and 6.0 is specifically superior to the V10 of various displacements. That is all.
