Depends on what it is. f150, f250, reg cab, crew cab, automatic, manual, 4x4, 2 wheel drive, etc? He said what the set up of his truck is, which would put it in the 8k range. My point is that I have the same year psd as him, much lighter truck, better gearing, etc, and it won't pull with a 5.4 pulling the same weight but somehow his can out pull one with him pulling more weight.
He was saying his truck and trailer combined weighed 16k lbs. If his truck weighs 8,000 lbs then he was pulling an 8,000 lb trailer. That isn't too much more than the 6,000 lbs he estimated the 5.4 was pulling(assuming he estimated correctly). Saying 16k lbs for his weight just made it sound like he was pulling 3 times as big of a trailer instead of just saying what both trailer weights actually were.
He estimated the trailer weights, and people usually overestimate their weight and underestimate on their competition. He admitted he had no idea what kind of rpms the 5.4 was turning or if the guy was even trying to keep up with him(it's not a race if the other guy doesn't know about it). I would also require video proof since I am required to provide pictures and videos of everything I pull and where I pull them.
Josh I know what your saying and to some degree tend to agree. Right before you said something to the newbie we had another that came in and said he blew 2 psds out the water doing all they could do and eyeballed their trailer weight. You didn't say 1 thing, but we did. The gasser said we was being unfair by saying he couldn't just guess the trailer weight cause they seemed to be like his. I'm beginning to notice a trend for the gasser to jump in on a topic that suits their needs. Let's just be fair about it. If you going to question a diesel question a gasser to.

So a 5.4 SD and a PSD SD weigh about the same? I wonder why some people talk so much crap about how heavy a PSD is... I didn't realize the 5.4 made over 650lb/ft of torque...Boy, that thing is a monster. I sure hope I don't see one of those up here.

No they don't weigh the same. It seams right here Josh is compairing psd to psd weight not psd to 5.4 weight.
Josh really your 5.4 walks all over your 7.3?

(I know...I'm just seeing how his pain pills affect his memory)
His 7.3 must run on 3 or 4 cylinders if it does. We've got some nice 7.3's around these parts. My 6.4 would eat his 5.4, but he doesn't believe that either....(Too many oxy's)

No kidding. Even w/ his manual transmission he doesn't have a prayer.
His 1st gear 5.7 x 350=1995 lb
Your 1st gear 3.1 x 650=2015 lb
His 2nd 2.9 x 350=1015 lb
Your 2nd 2.2 x 650=1430 lb
No prayer.
Another highlight for the diesel is we cruise at around 1800 rpms and around 360 lbs of tq. That's why we don't lose momentum when we hit hills or grades.

You forgot to include tractive force in you calculation. If so, the 6.7 loses! Haha

No I didn't forget. I don't know their tire height. Around here we call it the draw bar pull rating. I've learned over the years that the calculator isn't always right. There's so many factors you have to figure in. Surface resistance, quilty tires, gcw of trucks. The fact of the matter is both truck have enough power to break traction so there's to many variables.
Tractive force is used on trains and farm tractors. It would that these masters of pull{what else are they going to do} would be in a controlled eviroment. But they are not. So I don't play with tractive values. They are very misleading.
I don't think the new F150 went past 3900 rpm at WOT. After watching the video, it seems to me that the computer was limiting the F150 to not downshift and go at higher rpms.
The dodge was WOT in 2nd gear (1.50:1) at 4400 rpm.
What you do and everyone else think?
Could you even get the MAX Tow package on a Screw? I thought it was only on regular cabs for 2010? 2011, you only can get the MAX Tow on Screw with the 6.2L, 11,100lbs rated tow. I spec'd one out on ford.com... 46K and change,

Good point. That's how it was in 04 and 05. Regcab 8' bed. 4.11 rear.

I thought you could get max tow (you could in the 08's because I had it) in a Screw, but max PAYLOAD was only in the Scabs. Maybe they changed it though.

That test was done with what looks like a 2010' model which was only available with the 4.6l 2V, 4.6l 3V or 5.4l 3V. Reg cabs, SCs and Screws all could get the Max tow during those years if configured properly. During that MY the Raptor was the only 150 available with the 6.2l. If that test was done with the Screw with the 6.2l even without the max tow I'd bet it would have slapped that Dodge around pretty hard.
