Gas vs PSD
Shame its way to big for my sig.
The only car that ever got this engine besides the Touareg SUV was the Phaeton (full size car by the way) and even that has a higher towing capacity than F-150s up to year 2003. It also gets 24 mpg and weighs as much as a Chevrolet Tahoe.....
The reason ford hasn't put the engine into a car is the simple fact that Americans are too fixated on gasoline engines and who the hell would want a clattering, unreliable, diesel hog like a 6.4L PSD in a car anyway? Ford has relied on VW to provide diesel engines for their european marketed cars in the past, why not full-size domestic trucks too? They might even strike gold in the reliability department too since there has been quite the "oops" when it comes to PSD reliability in the past.

I just let you eat your hat.

I exaggerated that 5,399 lb car is compact, but it is a sedan.
Wouldn't you like your pickup to make 0 to 60 in less than 7 sec and a need of governor to keep it below 180 mph?

2008 Volkswagen Touareg V10 TDI Review | The Truth About Cars
They only managed 18
Review: 2008 Volkswagen Touareg V10 TDI — Autoblog
The 5.0 V10 diesel was also dropped in favor of a small 3L Diesel anyways back in 2009. The EPA rates the 08 Touareg V10 Diesel at 15 city / 20 highway. F-150's have a similar curb weight (and worse aerodynamics probably) and the EPA rates them at 14 City / 20 highway with the 300HP 4.6L V8 and a 6 speed auto. This V10 Diesel does not impress me very much.
Also, the F-350's curb weight is more around 7500 lbs, and the new 6.7 reports far better fuel economy then the 6.4

They did not actually drop the V10, it is still available in most other parts of the world. The 3L diesel has also been available throughout most of the world too for some time. They just swapped the V10 for the V6 in the US market because the V6 gets better mpg and I'm not sure the V10 could meet emissions requirements.
