Allright, this idea is gaining momentum
I don't want this to be a hassle for people (everytime you turn the key you got to take a picture). I think if we keep our fuel receipts and receipts for any parts required to keep your truck going down the road we should be good.
So far the participants are - Me, Sandman, Phillips91
My truck is the truck in my sig/avatar. It has 153,000 and tows a fifth-wheel, cattle trailer, and hay wagons. Also load the bed with 60-70 bales of small squares every now and then.
I think i'll gather participants here and open the thread when we have a full roster. I think it would be good if the participants could take 3 photos - truck lengthwise photo, odometer, and truck doing some form of work
mods dont count right? only servicing and replacing broke parts
I would say anything that breaks, wears out or is normal maintenace. And no disguising problems with a mod either. If a 6.0 has a turbo go out, no replacing it with a better one and calling it a mod. If a v10 shoots 3 plugs out, no buying aftermarket heads and calling a mod either.

I am fine with however we want to do it. If a simple post of the miles and gallons used is sufficient, that would probably be the easiest for everyone. Since some people doubt my fuel mileage, I am even fine if you want to send someone to be my ride along buddy for the year(or a few tanks)
I would like to join in on this one as well, but dont know if i haul enough to qualify. Like i stated before, i haul a 22 ft pontoon about 4 times a month and load my bed down pretty heavy at least once a month. It's my daily driver as well. Let me know if i qualify.
OK guys, I give up. I cannot find the post I submitted nor the reply posts to date. I know there are some because I have received emails advising me of this. I appreciate the words of welcome and even the tease about being a green horn. It is nice to find this sense of family within the Ford community. I have only come to feel something of this sort in the Harley Davidson community.
I do know that I was asked if I had a hard time adjusting to a regular cab from a crew cab. Actually, the answer is yes and, no. Of course there is less space but, then, there is always the eight foot bed. In addition to installing an undermount fiver hitch, I also installed a under the bed rails Jobox, so I have plenty of lockable space to keep the valuables. But I do miss the interior space. However, I love the turning radius and the the eight foot bed. The regular cab also make for much better control and manuvering of a thirty foot fifth wheel trailer. I will probably have a more experienced opinion by the end of summer.
When I do locate the other replies to my initial post I will reply as best I can. Please forgive my lack of expertise in navigating the site. And, again, thanks for all of the knowledge and advise. Regards to all.
I think such a survey here makes no sense from the start.
While we are going to hear a lot from diesel owners about replacing glow plugs, injector, multiple oil changes etc, we are NOT going to hear from gaser owners who have no longer vehicle to drive.
Found the replies to my post. I think I owe an explanation as I think I may have left a false impression in saying that I got my V10 for a third of what a diesel would have cost me.
All of the diesels that I was interested in were either duallys or SRW 350s. I did not consider any that had over 75,000 miles or with standard trannys. All of the crew cab trucks I considered over three to four months of searching online were priced from $20,000 plus to $30,000 plus for a variety of years and all with more miles than 75,000 miles. The ones I really liked were more like $35,000 or more. The 2003 Ford F250 Regular Cab XLT 4X4, with a V10, auto tranny, camper package, air bags and 40,000 miles was bought for $11,000 cash. I was fortunate that a new friend who is a Ford dealer employee hooked me up with the seller. It also helped that I had cash to put up on the spot. The truck also had a Lance camper on it but I declined to buy it as I had no need for it. So, I settled for the regular cab and the gasser and I could not be happier. The truck is like new and is as strong as a bull. I am getting 12 to 13 mpg, driving it unlike my car or bike and being sure to keep the rpms around two big. Hope this clears up my post a bit.
I think if we post once a month with repair expenses & fuel expenses we should be good. When something wears out, even if you upgrade to an improved part, REPORT it. When we get enough participants I'll start the thread.
