I was picturing a flat bed with some built in tool boxes.
It all makes sense now.

I finally towed a V10! Towed this 25 passenger bus with 155,000 miles due to a bad ring & pinion.

Obviously that V10 power tore up the rear end

The rear ends are basically the same as an E350. To me the E450 is an over rated E350, just like the new 2011 F450 pickup is an over rated F350, and not a true F450.

How's that V-10 tow truck working for you these days? I'll bet it's a nice change to just gas it up and go and not have to worry about all of the "normal" diesel problems. Sure is a pretty rig. I'm approaching 57k on mine and it has never missed a beat

My truck has been trouble free. Only 23,000 miles so far. It pulls all the heavy stuff with ease. We'll see how the new 6.7 does when it comes time to replace my 03 F450. Depending on how trouble free the new 6.7 Powerstroke engine is, that might make me decide to stay V10 or try another diesel. There will be no more 6.0 or 6.4's in my future.

Thats the way the F250 and F350 are too.
So the E450 uses the D80 like the DRW E350 does?

Its kind of funny, on the same day your V10 towed a V10, I went to home depot and saw 3 v10s parked side by side in the parking lot.

Biggest problem I see with the new 6.7 diesel engine is that only Ford can refill the urea tank at $75 every 4-7k when you get Ford to change the oil @ $110. You won't get me to buy another diesel engine pickup for a while. Seems that Chevy and Dodge are still looking a sootbags while ford is going with a urea tank. At least you won't have to lift the cab on the 6.7 from what I am told.

Why would only Ford be able to refill the urea? There is a cap for easy access. I've never had a dealer do an oil change on any vehicle I've ever owned.

Bill, yes they have the little Dana 80 on the E450, just like the 2011 F450 pickup that's been neutered from the Dana 110.

Yeah, I don't see that taking long before it can be done anywhere.

A couple of points you made are mistaken. Urea is for sale here for 2.79 a gallon so no you don't have to get it from the dealer. And, GM is using urea too, it's the Ram that isn't using it.

i don't own either, but the only thing i wanted to say on here was that the diesel guys get way too wound up, you say psd and they start talking about 7.3's, and blow off the 6.0 and 6.4 cause they have problems. and if your gonna compare the v10 with a diesel and make it fair a v10 makes higher power at higher rpm's and a diesel makes it at lower rpm's. a diesel with 4.30's would probably suck just as a v10 with 3.55's would. it's not cheating to compare vehicles set up to take advantage of their individual powerbands, it's fair
