if your gonna compare the v10 with a diesel and make it fair a v10 makes higher power at higher rpm's and a diesel makes it at lower rpm's. a diesel with 4.30's would probably suck just as a v10 with 3.55's would. it's not cheating to compare vehicles set up to take advantage of their individual powerbands, it's fair
2 need etxra cycltders and it dose lay out clounds of black smoke like a diesel
Joe, you are 105 HP and 95 TQ short of the least powerfull v10 made.
I could outpull you on 8 " cycltders " with no plugs in the other 2.
It does not smoke because its better.
Regarding the urea tank fill from Ford, I was only going with the info I got from my Ford dealer who said any other fills on the urea other than Ford would void the warranty. As far as the Chevy and their urea setup, I have no info.
Just saw this thread and not sure why its a debate. For working, give me a 7.3 over a V10 any day, every day. They make a more torque at a more usable RPM. For hauling they are going to pull heavier loads better with less trouble because thats what they are designed for. V10-go fatser than 7.3 stock, thats about it. 7.3's will be going strong, when a V10 of the same age is a nice lawn ornament.
i'm all for keeping hippies at bay.
and i gotta say that the old "diesels will outlast whatever motor you have" thing is pointless to even think about. my buddys v10 has 265000 and doesnt burn any oil and still has great compression. by the time a diesel reaches 3-500,000 it is not worth anything more than a nice lawn ornament either.any vehicle can last for miles but it takes its toll on the vehicle as a whole. v10 and psd have the same chassis and parts around them

Sorry Dude, that's been a lame argument for about 8 years. There's 1000 times as many V-10's running Class Cand Class A RV Motor homes than any 7.3's, 6.0 (leakers), and NO 6.4 soot baggers. Reason why?? Reliability and toughness, that's why. Too many issues with a diesel engine pickup for any RV'er to consider it seriously and so did the RV company's. They didn't want the hassle and the V-10 has many more miles of proven capability and reliability to make a change to a diesel dog. That's just the way it is. If a diesel could do the job WITH reliabilty, then they would be ther, but they aren't. The Ford V-10 is KING, too bad Ford made the change to another V-8. We'll see how the new one does under the same conditions.
