well, the 8.08 mpg I ran it for half an hour at WOT.

By the way, that is running 70-75 spinning 2600-2700 rpm. If I only cruise at 60, I maintain 14 MPG. That speed isn't comfortable though.LOL

that begs my next question....... with all that available hp the v10 has, what in gods name were you towing that you had to run it wide open for 30 minutes straight? an aircraft carrier? 747? the space shuttle? if its as powerful as everyone says it is, you shouldnt have to be at wot for that long with any load.......

........and get 21mpg.

Going back down, you have to actually stop half way and siphon some fuel out of the tank to keep it from overflowing.

I had about 19,000 GCW and was running into a head wind, as fast as the truck would go.
I got up to 90.
I dont have the new V10, I have the first V10 with 265HP.

you sure you dont have a 5.4? because i have one of earlier 5.4's and it has 260 hp. seriously though, didnt the first v10 have 310 hp? now just to clarify a few things here..... dually95 said he was towing a 16k lb trailer. you counter by saying you had a 19,000 gcw. i can only assume you wanted your 19k to look bigger than his 16k.....difference is, that was his trailer weight. yours is a combined weight. so your trailer was probably more along the lines of about 12k. so he had a much heavier trailer, didnt have to run it full throttle, and still got better mpg. this is where i get confused with the whole v10 will outpull a psd argument

also, if youre pulling 12k lbs at 90 mph, remind me to stay off the roads near you........

And thats a bumper pulled 12k. The van probably doesn't handle very well at 90 by itself, especially if its 11 years old. Add in 12k with a pivot point several feet behind the wheels and the thought of how much it must sway makes me cringe.

well that makes sense then. i didnt know he had a van. the van did have less hp than the truck. this totally changes our whole discussion then.....i thought he was crazy for comparing a 310hp v10 to a psd, now i find out hes comparing a v10 with the same power ratings as my 5.4 to a psd......

Unbelieveable how this discussion has blossomed, when the trueth of the matter is neither the Diesel nor the V10 could pull the Christmas tinsle out of a cats butt. Why it's the Subaru Justy's 3 banger with its ability to spool way up there in the rpms to really get the most HP and tq goin'. Jeeez, didn't you know that?!?!? HA!!!

Have fun!
