I will give you that the 7.3 is the best PSD in terms of overall reliability.
But that darn CPS sure didn't help it's reputation.
I dont know a bout that. My 94 7.3 had 200k on it before it failed and my dads had just around 190k before it failed. And if its that big of deal, just replace it with one from international for the T444E. All of the newer 7.3s we run at work still have the factory one in them and there all over 200k. Just my experiance with them.
Lets throw my truck in the equation. 38s with 3.73s, I lose the acceleration which makes it a closer match for the v10, but since this seems to be who can get up the hill fastest, not the easiest and best MPG, i would think that i could take the v10 on the hill as far as speed, since at 75 im only at like 1650rpm.
Hey Bill, here is a load for ya. I pulled this up 285 to Conifer, CO. 5-7% grades. Didn't break any speed records, but am sure my stock 7.3 made it up faster than a V10! 2v for sure, 3v may have been close.
I know the pics are crappy, all I had was my phone.
We had a 97 250 7.3 that grossed 60k one day. Didnt get it over 30 or get up on the big road, but id like to see a v10 do it. The most ive ever weighed in a PSD was 43k, but ive rolled across the scales at 54k in my dodge.

Nice load, but you know a 3V has 100 more HP then you, right?
that is a pretty truck BTW. what do you think the combined weight came to?
What kind of lumber? it is hard to tell.
60K? what the hell were you towing?
And yes, I would pull that with my truck, IF you were willing to buy me a new tranny after i killed it towing that much.
Scrap steel. I didnt pull that load. It only went a few miles down the road, but the guy who did pull said he couldnt get out of 3rd. To big a jump from 3-4 in the old 5 speeds.lol It was a bunch of 1in and 2in plate, I beams and scap.lol

either motor would pull that, but at my scrap yard the scale is 4 feet in the air and the ramp is kind of steep.
I would be afraid of snapping the drive shaft, braking the rear end or the bell housing, all the kinds of damage you see at a tractor pull.

The elevation would probably make up the hp difference.
Drivers side is all treated 2x8x16 and 2x10x16 with 16-8x8x24' post underneath. Stuff on top is 36' LVLs and BCI Joist. Passengers side is 2x12x16's, 2x6x16's, 2x6x12's and 2x10x12's. I was overloaded on the trailer. It has 14k worth of axles, but even with 80psi in the tires they were squatting enough to make me nervous. Pickup was sitting down a bit, but not overloaded. guess would be around 23-25k. I really doubt it was more than that because it pulled easier than my backhoe which with my old trailer put me around 30k.
... where the Powerstroke will still be pulling at 100%, thanks to the turbocharger.
Been there done that at 9900+ and it still wanted to climb some more.
I am enjoying this thread. I look forward to see what has been posted and what avenue will be taken by the poster.
I was thinking about that article where the PSD made it to the top of the hill 5 seconds faster than the V10. That scenario would become very useful when merging on a freeway. The PSD would be ahead of the V10 and going faster than the V10 when the on ramp ended and you needed to be in the flow of traffic. The V10 would eventually pass the PSD according to the test but that would be down the road after the vehicles have already merged with traffic.
Now I am not saying the V10 cannot get up to speed in the necessary time to merge in with the traffic. I am saying the PSD would be able to do it quicker and easier.

I am from Colorado, and I have pulled up to about 12,500 feet.
Truck did not act any differently than it did at home (at the time, "home" was at 6,000 feet).
