i keep an eye to one side for a '02-'05-ish polaris RMK 700, or SKS700... i like a tall steering post too. i've been a polaris guy for quite some time, but the lastest looks of them are nasty to me. i've been eyeing up the new ski-doo's... rode one last year for a bit and the ergonomics are comfortable, power was superb, but i hate the price tags on something i can only use 4 months of the year, and its hard to find 3ft of snow here to justify owning one...
The rmk 700 was a great sled.
the new doo's have clutch and ring issues.
the new dragon800 by poo likes to blow up motors.
that 900 poo made was useless in the mtns.
its a crap shoot really, they all have good and bad points.
Thats for sure - quite a few guys around here that I know have had their's go down and both the Stoon and PA dealerships have been rebuilding like crazy but they still dont know what the problem is - some say too lean in the mid range (latest reflash didnt help) and others are saying piston design. There is a head squish thread running on HCS now and they think that could be at fault. A friend had his 08 Dragon 800 RMK sieze two weeks ago and another guy had his 09 Dragon 800 RMK do the same this past weekend. On both occasions, my 07 Dragon 700 RMK was beside the failed sleds!! Cursed or what???

I have heard everything from piston design, to snow ingestion, to heads as well.
Many think its a poor design allowing a hot motor to suck in a trace of snow, and the shock cooling makes them go boom.....but i have seen no prrof of it.
But i sure have seen a lot of the new 800 poo's with motors blown, and I have towed many off the mountains this winter.
A friend of mine has a 2009 D8 short track with over 2000 trouble free miles though! He is running a PC3 and adding quite a bit of mid range fuel and pulling out as much on top or more as he is adding midrange.
you see many of the yamaha 4-strokes out there Saleen?? that would be my ultimate sled here in sask as there isn't too many hills... with the weight of them i'd be leary in the mountains...

Great trail sleds, suck in the mountains.
With a turbo they make enough power to climb okay, but are too heavy for technical climbs, boondocking etc. So basically just the point and shoot type hill climbers like them heavy yami sleds with a turbo.
thats sort of what i figured... perfect saskatchewan sled...
hopefully this warm weather will continue and we can quit talking sleds and move on to fishing and quadding... although, i must say, a few more trips to the ski hill would be greatly appreciated!!!
we're wanting to come out to the mountains for some 'boarding next winter... ever been on that cat skiing trip near whistler Saleen??

No.
But I have cat-skied 3 times.....Once near Valemount, once near Azu, and once near Nelson.
We have a winter storm blowing through right now. About 5 inches of snow yesterday and about the same amount today except with a 30+ km/h wind. Have I mentioned lately how much I love Canadian winters.....
Not snowing here yet but the temperature is dropping and the wind is supposed to hit 40 to 60 kmh later today and tonite. We`re going slipping into the low to -20`s, no sign of spring here.
