There is a boom attachment for a Bobcat but a zoom boom probably works better if you can get your hands on one. I have a Bobcat so I make full use of it when I can.
I drilled post holes and put 25 ft power poles in with just the Bobcat, no hand labour. A little tricky but it can be done.
YES it is morris sometimes a real hoot.
sherm is that anything like a template? or a plateform to build off of?
sometimes the template takes longer to make than the finished product.
i have built a few houses in my day. matter of fact me and erin we rebuilt our front porch
ground up rebuild and the whole front corner of our house. that was after a guy came around the corner and lost it and slammed into my race car in my drive way pushing the car into my livingroom it moved my couch about ft. and half in. that was 2 years ago and that broke 2 windows too so i or we had to replace them as well!
no it was in the middle of the night and we were in our room! and thats a noise you don't want to hear! that will get you out of a dead sleep! our room is in the back of the house.
i didn't realize there was a zoom-boom attachement for bobcats available. thats something i should think about. a bobcat is much more versatile i think...
A zoom-boom attachment on a bobcat would end up being pretty costly, since ya had to buy the bobcat also!
But you could buy a little dump truck and do snow removal on the side in the winter time to justify having a bobcat! Do landscaping in the summer time on the side, stuff like that!
my neighbor had a bobcat to help out with his farm. he had a bunch of cattle.
so he had to have that to move the bails of hay around to feed the cattle.
my neighbor got his 763 stuck and i showed him how to get it out.in the meantime i had cow under my armpit going moo. that heffer helped us! push the bobcat out! she was smart for a cow! that was cool!
In time im gonna definately get a bobcat myself too. They would come in handy, and being a smaller machine they could do some smaller jobs alot nicer then my big ol backhoe.
I tell ya though, having a backhoe around is a damn blessing! The money I have saved myself with having that machine is amazing. After i dig my basement and level out the area for my shop, it will have paid for almost 3/4's of it.
Excavating work has gone up that much?
Most of the time I dig an average basement for less than 2 G`s without any dirt hauling and leveling a shop area isn`t alot of $$ either, on fairly level terrain it`s about $2-300.
Haha sorry, I should have mentioned that that last figure would include all of our water and sewer trenching, septic installation, pad underneath our place, and caragana removal.
As for the leveling, I wasnt sure how much that costs, but I have to actually carve out about 10 inches of soil for about half the length of where the shop is gonna go!
I don`t have a transit, most of the time we use string line levels and grade stakes, most of the areas leveled aren`t that big.
One of my customers was an engineering prof that had one for his big job, it was an absolute must when leveling into a big, long side hill!
I haven't been on here in several days, and you guys are still building houses? lol. I want a bobcat just because they're a kick in the a** to play with.
Seems there`s still lots of new building going on here, we`ll see more in afew more months. From what I`ve heard there`s been no big cancellations yet.
