putting up trusses or joists to a 2nd floor, its much faster to walk the wall than do it off ladders or set up scaffolding. much safer to use the scaffolding/ladders, but it takes so much time!! it takes some getting used to. especially a 2x4x14'h wall... in a light wind...
That`s where a Bobcat comes in mighty handy!
I`d rather work on trucks too Jack, carpentry isn`t my thing.
i have built houses and other things!! i use my tools wisely or at least i used to!
and yes morris i'd rather work on stuff and getting my hands dirty thats what i'm all about!!! i don't mind!!! i've told erin that if there isn't grease on my hands that means no money!
Task- put up highway road sign (no easy task in the frozen north my southern friends)
Take one rigid shop vac, a pressure washer, 1 - 4X4 sign post and sign.
Pressure washer + shop vac = hydrovac
Finished product, one road sign installed in under 30 mins
Shop vac still works but makes a funny noise for some reason... The boss doesn't know what really happened.
Never heard about a hydro-vac set up quite like that Sharon.....
While I`m not real crazy about getting oil, grease and dirt on me your right Jack, clean means not much $$$ coming that day.
When it comes to carpentry, I actually dont mind it. I think it takes a certain type of person to do it for a living though, and for me it just isnt my thing, for a career. Lots of neat little tips and tricks to learn in that trade though, and carpentry skills do come in handy all over the place.
Im more of a wrencher kind of guy too. I like the problem solving aspect of wrenching on stuff. I started taking stuff apart at a young age, and never grew tired of it! (just ask my dad about that haha)
he has some sort of bug.....different than what the kids have though.......
homeschooling is definitely better than public school I am finding out......I guess it doesnt matter where you are.....my kids have NEVER been sick so much.....and the only thing they are liking about public school is meeting other children.......
i heard there was a bug going around. yes for me to get well paul.
we miss messing with ya bud. i understand the 2 of ya's are busy, and moving from 1 state to another isn't the easiest task i know i did it for my wife. and for me being a step
dad wasn't exactly a walk in the park either. but everything is good now. but, i've had to put a boot in a kids butt more than once over the past 6 years. i have twin sons!
Moving is no fun and with having a bug makes it even worse.....Hurry up and get better Paul!
Isn`t being a step dad step a hoot at times there Jack.....

we had a zoom-boom in calgary... man, that thing was worth a dozen guys!!! if i ever get to the point where i'm framing 10-12 homes in a year i'd definately be making an investment in one of those. we had a cage made up for it , about 4x10 feet for installing windows and doing really steep roofs. just the material movage it could do was awesome!!! i suppose a bobcat could do that to some extent.
i enjoy wrenching from time to time, but me and wood get along real well...
