I'm about 6'3"...232 lbs. ...I should be probably around 210-215 lbs. Hard to lose weight, especially when you get to my age...almost 60.
I think the metabolism slows down.

Anyways I take meds for HBP....it was about 152/95 without...now about 130/82...varies back and forth.

The big deal is the sodium. I used to love fast food...but the sodium count in this food is way out of whack. A lot of it's in cured meats, bread, buns...all sorts of stuff. Even Subway sandwiches...I find I have to be careful.

I'm checking the Nutrition Facts on the outside of food packages you buy at grocery stores and if it's too much sodium...forgeddaboutit !!

One bagel can have 23 % of your daily salt needs for that day. Unbelievable .

I'm retired now...so I've got more time to check ingredients out and pursue less sodium in my diet. I know it's hard when your working and on the run, lucky to grab a bite fast. At the end of my working career I was making a habit of making my own lunch so I had some control over it and my wife and daughter are very sodium conscious when they cook family meals.

The other thing that makes a difference is regular exercise. I'm not up to running long distance marathons at my age, but I go for walks...winter , summer, 30 below, 30 above. I try to take a walk through interesting places like forested area near my home. In my case I'm a camera buff so I always have a camera with me..ready to snap a pix at an interesting animal, bird or landscape. Keeps me motivated to continue walking.

Ask your MD what he/she suggests.

Umm Im just throwing this out there but instead of a bagel try a carrot.
I did go on a crash diet lately to get the beer gut down and simple changes made a big effect.

No problem. It's good to let people know like you did...why reinvent the wheel type of thing. Many old guys like me have been through a lot of things...sometimes our experience can help another guy.

I always used to avoid getting a physical, but in the last decade or so, I've been pretty regular, about every year.

I'm glad I do, even though some of the examinations the Dr. has to do are 'uncomfortable' if you know what I mean. I look at this way, if I've got a medical problem, I'd rather get it found earlier, rather than later....it's always better that way, IMO...
