Superchips 6.0 Microtuner Thread
I had the track officals talked into letting me run my 6.0 with exhaust and the hi perf, tune loaded, but we got rained right after time trails,
Oh Yeah by the way Vic nice job with the 1704, I towed an 18 ft inclosed trailer with two bikes, riding gear for two and enough camping gear for 10 people and the truck ran and towed like a dream,
With my truck, I see about 24.5 lbs max boost stock and around 28.5 as the max boost in tow safe mode - though I did once hit 30.5 lbs. In econo mode I've seen 32.5 as the max, and in high performance mode I have seen 34.7 lbs.
I've seen other posters putting up numbers as high as 38 lbs.
My truck is equipped with the X-Monitor guage package by the way.
SC has done their homework with the 6.0. All I can say, if you get a SuperChip someday, remember this. "It doesn't stop like it goes."
Thanks.

I would use TOW. If you have an EGT and boost gauge, you can feel free to use ECON.
Honestly, ECON shouldn't be a problem either way as the EGT's are very cool, but I prefer to use gauges on any truck exposed to loads greater than daily driving.

Plugged it in and had the Tow Safe tune loaded in a very short time. The truck drove fine even before 5 cold starts. I could notice the extra power and the throttle seems more responsive on the low end. I did notice some puffs of black smoke (real faint) even in Tow Safe mode when flooring the pedal. The truck upshifted fine and didn't hold a low gear when maintaining 35 MPH like some others have posted. BTW, the SCMT said it was version 5.00 if it makes any difference. The shifts were firmer than stock, but not excessively rough. I towed my travel trailer up a hill and noticed more power and better acceleration. The speed did not limit out like when stock and in fact I was still accelerating when I hit the crest of the hill.
I drove around town and played with the extra power. It was great. Can't wait to try the Performance mode next time. Only bad thing is snow is on it's way and don't expect to be able to utilize all the power on slippery roads. My only regret is that I didn't purchase it sooner so I could have utilized it on trips towing my travel trailer this summer.
Great job on the programming Vic!
This is off topic, but I don't know if you'd see it if I posted in the V-10 forum. SuperChips hasn't updated their website yet so I don't have any info about the 1714. Does the performance from 1714 for the 2004 trucks differ from the 1715 performance for previous year trucks? Why the change for 2004 trucks? You can e-mail me if you like to keep this thread on topic, or maybe even start a new thread in the V-10 forum about the 1714 so everyone can read about it.
Thanks.

The gains in power and drivability are actually better than the 1715, because we have more control now with the newer PCM.
"SD" and I spent a great deal of time making the 4.6 and 5.4 F150 files and they run great with very noticeable HP gains and the increase in drivability is incredible.
Just as an example:
2004 F150 4.6
At 2600 RPM stock #'s are 118HP and 238FT LBS. With the program it is 141HP and 283 FT LBS at 2600 RPM.
3500RPM:
stock 158HP/231FT LBS
performance file 173HP/252.8 FTLBS
4300RPM
stock 187HP/234 FTLBS
performance file 205HP/256 FTLBS
These gains pull all the way to 5,000 RPM, with the truck making power to 5500 (stock is DEAD after 5,000).
Anyways, that's the skinny on the 1714.
This IS the 1704 thread, so get with Motorhaven if you want a 1714 or call superchips for 1714 information.
I'll send Ken some dyno sheets so he can post them.
I also owe Ken a 1714, so he will have one if he wishes to test it.
...This will be AFTER this mother of a hurricaine, of course.
This is a serious storm coming and Superchips will be closed from at least Friday through Monday, best case scanario.
I hope you, your family, and everyone you know is well on your way, and out of Florida by now! Yesterday here in Dallas, the 6:00pm news superimposed Francine over the State of Texas, and IT COVERED IT!!! This is the largest hurricane I have ever seen in my life.
I will be saying a prayer for everyone still there as I see the damage being horrible, and deadly.
God bless you all, and good luck.
John Russell
