The SuperChips website says the 1714 is "coming soon". Is it out already? If so, I'll have to give MotorHaven a call.

Flash: I'm getting about 0.6MPG better mileage with the PERF tune than either the ECON tune or stock. What's up with that?

It all depends on the truck, how fuel efficient your stock calibration was, and how you drive.

You have to realize, when you drive more aggressively, you are going to make more bost than stock and use more fuel.
Most people will drive their truck aggressively in the fiirst month or two after reprogramming, because it's just so much fun =o)

If you are driving a little faster than when it was stock, but getting close to the same mileage, that's pretty good!

When you drive normal to moderate, the engine is under less percieved load, and you make more power in an area of the fuel map that causes you to use less fuel.

It's a balance, and there are many variables.

I had a guy yesterday raving about almost 4 MPG!

I've got a 2003 Cobra. It put down 360HP and 333 FT LBS stock, making around 13-14 MPG with my "aggressive" driving.

After installing a pulley, K&N, exhaust, headers and a custom tune it's now making 472 RWHP and 494 FTLBS at the tire.

If I drive "normal to moderate", I can see 18 MPG on the highway, 15 city.
If I'm enjoying the extra power frequently and having some fun it can drop to 11 or 12 MPG.

Just like any combustion engine, more boost creates a need for more fuel, but boosted vehicles with performance upgrades will generally gain fuel mileage if driven carefully during daily driving. (I could go into a huge essay about load characteristics and fuel comsumption, but I'll spare you the boring speech =o)

A gasoline engine is obviously very different than a diesel, but in this case it is a valid comparison. More boost, more aggressive driving = more fuel.

Now, if you are driving the same as you were before tuning (and this is very hard to do once you've got more power, especially in the first couple months) and are not seeing a gain, you may have had a more efficient stock program than other trucks.

Thanks for your thoughts Vic. Never boring I might add...

I'm driving carefully, as before, not stomping on it routinely. Except I did have to put two Drudges and a ninja biker in their places on this tankfull. I know, an F350 can't beat a bike. Well, he was in the right hand lane that ended just past the intersection. I brake boosted and on the green I just flew. Instead of seeing him blow by he backed off. Probably surprised him so much he lost the nerve to cut me off. Anyway, a couple kicks and still better mileage. I'll take it!

The sportbike probably didn't know that you wanted to race.

Any of my recent sportbikes will go 0-60 in the 3 second range and run the 1/4 mi in the mid 10 second range at 135+ MPH. Contrast this to the low 14 second range at 94 MPH for my F-250 running the SCMT in Hi Performance mode.

While the trucks run great, any modern sportbike 600 cc and up will eat them alive. Heck, my 400 cc dirtbike will probably do the job up to about 75 - 80 MPH.

I did eat up a coworkers YZF 600 with my car....

But a YZF600 isn't exactly an R1 =o)

I think that from the sound of it, your car is one of the notable exceptions with its umpteen gazillions of power ;-)

It is certainly one that I would be proud to have parked next to my bikes!

You need to come here and we'll race, as soon as I get my truck finished...

My bikes are stock. With a wheelie bar alone the times would drop considerably.

With 1/10th of the budget that you've got for your truck to do mods to the bike, I'd be happy to take on that challange :->

Hey! Were not talking budget differences here

Trust me, I'd lose a limb to have one of those crotch rockets...but I know I'll be dead before I get it home from the dealer
