well now my superchips dosent work at all......truck went into the shop due to surging issues so they reflashed it with latest flashes. Truck was set to stock before entering service. Get it back and tried to load the SCMT program and it says..........

"Your programmer needs a update"

File 1 - VXAM7NW
File 2 - TQASONY

why does it do this? Do I have to sent it back to Superchips? I saved back my stock file just like it says to do in the Manual.......weird. Ha anyone else seen this.

Yep you will have to send it back to SC. The new flash is not supported in your SC unit.

This is a major drawback to the SCMT then. Ford can reflash for any number of reasons, and over the life of the truck, this will add up to some serious downtime, postage, and inconvenience. It's bad enough to have to return the truck to stock before the dealer sees it, but even when you do, the dealer can still flash and your back on the merry-go-round. Not to mention if you forget to return to stock and they reflash. My pamphlet suggests that SC won't cover this at all.

what is the best one to get...........meaning one that you dont have to send in every other month or so when you get a flash from the dealership like SUPERCHIPS. Big problem for SUPERCHIPS sales if you ask me, what a inconvience.

I suppose it depends on what you expect, and the characteristics of each. I wish there were a Consumer Reports type review of all of these. Impartial, scientific, objective, with commentary about each. I'm sure they'd mention the need to return a SCMT as a negative. You can't just ask which one's best, or which one you should get on a forum because that's like asking V10 or diesel, and which oil's best?

Question

My truck also dumps hard out of cruise control. What is the problem?

What will Ford do? Will the SC be affected?
I thought it was a truck thing, it has always done this.

You now have new stock files that need to be tuned. This is a no-charge update.

This has been clarified several times throughout this thread.
It's actually a nickname I picked up from a friend who tunes (long funny story, probably why Brian laughed).

I am probably going to bow out of this thread if I don't see a change in the way people handle themselves in here. I am here in my own merit, and everyone in here has the ability to interact/communicate, etc...

If I posted my name in here, I'd get all kinds of phone calls and I simply can't take a bunch of calls.

I care about EVERYONES situation in here. I honestly care from the bottom of my heart, but I am VERY busy and can only give this thread so much attention.

If I don't give a solution/answer, please don't get upset with me. This is a thread for discussion that I choose to participate in on my own time. I can also choose not to participate.

Vic - There are a lot of folks out here that learn from what you have to say and consider you a valuable resource - after all, how many other programmers of tuners do we have access to? You have explained your positon with SC and if a very few who have problems with your employer's product continue to nag, blow it off and stay with us. I am sure you learn something from those with problems also but don't take it to heart - hang in there! Kurt

Thumbs up Vic, unfortunately some people expect a "Golden Bullet"

Vic,
It appears some people haven't taken the time to actually READ the complete thread( I must admit it took me quote a while), and it continues to astound me the unrealistic expectations people have for a $400 tuner that takes only 10 minutes to install!! Geez, NOTHING IS PERFECT, so get over it!! All these products have plusses and minuses, and they are all a bit different. All of them require returning to stock tune prior to going to the dealer, which is a warranty issue(this obviously excludes the buillt in tuners- like the Banks).
Hey, I made my choice, paid my money and I am happy with what I bought! I place a great value on knowing "someone" directly connected with this product take HIS valueable time out of HIS schedule (ie. family time) to try and assist the end user with problems that might post here(me, and all other owners here) and that is why I made my choice, and I don't intend to start second-guessing a final decision I made months ago.
John R.

So if it cost $800.00 and 20 minutes to install then we should EXPECT it to run correctly? hmmm

Wicked F250.

If your negativity continues, I will simply ignore your posts...
Can we keep it upbeat and positive in here?
One can express an issue optimistically without being cynical and sarcastic...

With that said.
Everyone should have high expectations for the 1704, and it works as expected. There is no reason not to have high expectations just because it is relatively inexpensive.

If you run into a "needs update" or a minor drivability issue, a little patience will render the problem solved.

"Needs update" is hard to avoid because I WILL NOT release a tune for stock filesI haven't tested. This is a GOOD thing. Ford releases new files regularly and this may cause a "needs update" in some situations. This means that the tuner is working normally and is safeguarding your truck until the new files are tested.

When a "needs update" comes in, the files are tested quickly, efficiently and thoroughly. There is a very good reason why the vehicles I tune remain reliable...

Please,
If you have an issue....express it in a positive manner and be OPEN to the solution. If the negativity continues, I'll ask that your posts be removed from this thread.
