Hi Vic, I'm not a leadfoot, and I've used great care to drive evenly. Everyone's going to have to take my word on this. Except the people behind me as I gently leave stoplights. They know...

I'm not throwing in the towel by any means. The truck is still new, and the stock mileage may be a little high because of the trip. In a couple weeks, I should have a better idea of stock mileage obtained while driving as I did during the econ test.

I don't think my stock mileage was all that high to begin with, suggesting that I already get great mileage due to good habbits and wouldn't see much improvement. Also, even if I did drive hard, I'd drive the same during both tests.

SuperChips just emailed me and told me that I must up date to the
latest flash or it would not work on my truck. I did inform them that
I did have the Oct flash. My truck runs really good with the Oct flash,
great fuel mpg, and the t/h mode is smooth as a kitten's purr. Do I
dare flash to the newest update just to use the SC tuner, or are they
pulling my leg?

Going to Carlsbad Raceway today to run the 1/4 mile there

Today and tomorrow are the last two days and then Sunday after the last of the bracket racing is done the track will be shut down for good.

The earth movers have been there for a while tearing up the dirt track next to the 1/4 mile strip and now they are ready to eat it up too - like we really need another business park right there

For those who were in to dirt bike riding in the late 60s and 70s, Carlsbad was the site of the US GP Motocross track and was always talked about in the dirt bike magazines of the day.

You can't ride a dirt bike anywhere around here now without being ticketed.

Anyway, I plan to do a run in stock mode and in the Hi Performance tune as a minimum. If the crowd isn't too bad I'll try to do a couple in each, and maybe even a run in the other modes if time permits.

Made it to the track and did a couple of runs in stock and Hi Perf tune.

Goofed up the first run because I let the truck creep out of the stage and across the line while trying to hold some boost and red lighted. Sat there in wonderment for a couple of seconds watching the other guy before I left the line. So the ET for that run rather stank.

I should note that my truck is stock except for the SCMT. Only other mod is the X-Monitor and brake controller.

Here are the numbers:

Run 1 - Stock Tune
4.688 --- 60 ft
8.970 --- 330 ft
12.643 --- 1/8 ET
66.790 --- 1/8 MPH
18.573 --- 1/4 ET
84.200 --- 1/4 MPH

Run 2 - Stock Tune
2.134 --- 60 ft
6.415 --- 330 ft
10.091 --- 1/8 ET
66.520 --- 1/8 MPH
16.033 --- 1/4 ET
83.880 --- 1/4 MPH

Run 3 - High Performance Tune
1.924 --- 60 ft
5.759 --- 330 ft
9.062 --- 1/8 ET
74.200 --- 1/8 MPH
14.332 --- 1/4 ET
93.270 --- 1/4 MPH

Run 4 - High Performance Tune
1.902 --- 60 ft
5.746 --- 330 ft
9.060 --- 1/8 ET
74.020 --- 1/8 MPH
14.338 --- 1/4 ET
93.01 --- 1/4 MPH

The runs were mostly made launching at about 2000 RPM. In the Hi Performance tune I noted that the boost was hitting around 12 or 14 lbs during some practice launches earlier in the day on a vacant dead end street not far from my house.

Hi EGT on the stock runs was 871 and 917 or something like that, and max boost was 24.7.

The max EGT during the Hi Performance runs was 1181 and max boost was 30.7 or 31.7, I forget which.

I would have made a few more runs experimenting with how much RPM to hold before the launch but the lines were pretty long so I called it a day.

So from this small sample size, stock ET is about 16.0 s flat at 84 MPH, and Hi Performance tune ET is 14.335 s at 93.1 MPH.

The track is probably about 100 ft above sea level and the outside temp was about 75 deg. Folks did comment that traction was as good as usual today - though in 4WD I didn't notice that I was spinning much.

Vic, HELP!!!

My buddy just go the 1704 and installed it on his truck, takes me for a ride and I tell him I really want one. Well we get home and my wife says " Want your birthday present early?" I say yea, and she hands me my own Superchips tuner! I am really excited at this point. Well I start the load and BAM it says I got to contact Superchips, the tuner needs and update or something. I'm thinking you got to be kidding me. It gave me a code E6d and 2 file numbers.

So we take the tune out of my buddies truck which is an 04 4X4 CC dually, 03 build motor that just got an updated flash this week, and try his tuner thinking it may be a problem with my tuner, Nope. Same error message. His works like a charm and mine will not load. I have a 04 2X4 CC dually 6/04 build date, 16/6/04 engine date. This sucks, so now I got to stare at this thing all week end.</FONT>

What the heck is wrong! Man I am so disappointed right now.

We were all heading to the local hangout and I had a new toy.

I guess not.………........<O></O>
