Vic............I am sorry........ but what I said about $800.00 tuners was in response to another member here saying why should we have high expectations for a $400.00 tuner...........I forgot this is your thread, sorry.
So if it cost $800.00 and 20 minutes to install then we should EXPECT it to run correctly? hmmm
ENOUGH! If you're that unhappy please return the unit and spare us all. I've had enough of it. We want discussion, not mud slinging. One minute you're happy, the next thing we know another snide comment is made.

Thank you.
This isn't my thread...this is Kens Thread, and "mud slinging" just isn't nice or acceptable.
OK - back to business. When do you expect to have something for the 05?
...working on it. I don't want to throw any dates out because I'm not sure of the exact time frame.
Ford is getting smarter....trailer brake control available from the factory, factory boost gauge.
When they include a factory EGT gauge, I'll shake someones hand at Ford for their intelligence =o)
I keep hearing about all those significant power and torque boosts from aftermarket flashes/chips. How are the automatic transmissions in the 6.0s holding up under the additional stress?

The Torq-Shift trans strapped onto the 6.0 is VERY strong. I have not seen or encountered an issue running 700+ ft lbs of torque through them. This is well within the safe limits of the tranny.
A "simple (heh) hub/clutch assembly with no bands provides a tight, precise shifting automatic that is very strong. The PCM transmission program also gives those who tune some serious control over the transmission functions.

Welcome Ken !
I am the official FTE tranny abuser - I've been slogging on mine HARD for 34K+ miles with 700+ lbft (as shown on the dyno graphs in my gallery)
Nary a hiccup (and I crunched a 4 speed auto tranny in my 02 X - that's how I got the 03 !)

I pounded on mine with an SCMT on Hi-perf mode and water injection running 50/50 water methanol for 6500 miles, engine blew. Turned around and am now running and Edge module with 20/80 methanol/water for 3000 miles now, frequent 4x4 launches, brake stands, burnouts, ect. and the transmission is just now starting to fail. I have a switch to the power for the line pressure regulator in the transmission, and so far is still holding fine...even with the converter lockup clutch on the verge of total failure. The transmissions in these trucks are just plain ungodly.
Water injection/methanol are not supported by the 1704.
It's meant for a stock truck.
Too many people are putting together the "witches" brew of modifications (like stacking devices) and creating issues like this.
The file must be written different if you are introducing anything other than diesel into the intake.
This is also important with Propane and extremely important when running nitrous.
You should be running a custom program from Superchips Custom.
Can SC custom provide programs to help utilize the methanol? I need a program with a retarted timing setting for the extra methanol.
The problem all along was the timing; the stronger I mixed the methanol the more advanced it got. I ran windshield washer fluid for a while with no problems; second time I fired it up with the high percentage mixture it blew; it also sounded like an air ratchet in the process too.

I really hope you are talking about injector timing, not ignition timing, because ignition timing does not exist on the diesel =o)
I've been in a few really funny conversations on this subject
You will indeed need to run less injector timing when running methanol and the fuel tables will need to be different.
You mentioned "the stronger I mixed the methanol the more advanced it got"
What were you using to see/log your injector timing?
I have a 1704 tuner and it feels like the truck runs better at the mid range setting .mine is a version 5.0 should I upgrade ? is this possible?what do I do with it? thanks
