O.k. I love the power of the Superchip, but now I want more. What is the best exhaust to go with it? Will I benifit alot from an exheaust with the superchip? I am looking for a turbo back exhaust. I do not want it to be any louder than stock. I want to make sure that I will not have any warranty issuses. Can I still have just a 4" tip? Thanks for any info.
My dealer told me as long as you keep the cat, you are good to go with the warranty.
I just installed the economy tune a few minutes ago. I was going to install the tow safe first and try if for a few days but curiously got the better of me. All I can say is GOOD GOD what a rush. To see a truck of this size fish tailing and barking the tires on a takeoff is awesome. Plus my Magnaflow duals really sounds great now. I am going to run this tune a few days before I switch to the Hi-Per tune. My question is really how much increase is there between the two, economy and hi-performance? I can't wait to take my wife on a trip tomorrow. I am not going to say anything, just floor it on a takeoff and watch her face out of a corner of my eye. Superchip programmers, you guys rock! Thanks for a super product.
I haven't run the truck all that much in the econo tune - mostly either Hi Perf or tow safe. My recollection is that there isn't a HUGE difference between the econo and Hi Perf tunes on the low end, but that the Hi Perf tune pulls a fair bit stronger up in the higher RPM range.
At 85 MPH it seems like it is really starting to take off . . .
On my '04/'05 Excursion there is a significant bump in performance between the two ... while Economy is fun, Performance is "funner!!" (my English teacher would slap me silly for that one!)
PS. for those of you wondering what a "'04/'05" Excursion is, it's an '05 that was built in August of '04, and thus has an '04 engine and computer (lucky me ... it's apparently faster than a bonafide '05!!)
Damn I wanna get s Superchips and put in on the truck so bad but I only have 600 miles on her. When can I safley put a chip on her and run the econ. mode all the time?
I put mine on, somewhere between 1 and 2K ... part of the reason was that I wanted to break her in as closely as possible to the way I drive (which is "spirited" but not abusive). So far, no problems, and I'm closing in on 9K.
I know that Vic has mentioned that there isn't any particular time, and that he's had no problems with trucks that had them on almost from day one...
Ya it's real tempting to just order one right now and put it on the truck when it comes.
But.. Im gonna wait until about 1k-1.5k miles before I put a chip on it. I just started using Diesel Kleen a every fill up I think with the DS. and the chip the truck should run like a champ!
I installed mine at about 500 miles. Almost at 1K now. Haven't paid much attention to fuel consumption, but have noticed that even in High Perf Tune, my mileage is better. Going to switch to economy at the next fill up and start comparing. On a side note, smoked out a lincoln town car the other night. All his windows were down and he was hittin switched showing off his hydraulics when his interior got filled with soot. My foot must have slipped.
I am sure this question has be asked befor but I could not find it. With all thing being equal ( same driving habits same fuel ect. ) which mode is going to be the best for fuel mileage? Thanks.
A quick question If I were to run on high perf. mode all the time (drving empty NOT TOWTING) will it cause my EGT's to rise to a dangerous level or is it ok to run the high perf. mode all times while empty?

You can run PERF 24-7 when unloaded or with a light load.
Vic,
I have an 06 on the way. Can I sell my 1704? Can I trade it for a 1706?
I'm not gonna tell the new buyer about it so if it can't be used on another truck (or traded for 1706), I'll just throw it away. What a waste!
You can sell it, probably get at least 1/2 of your money back and buy a 1706.
Ebay!
However, you MUST specify that it is used product on Ebay, or the M.A.P. pricing police will be on your tail.

I am curious as to what you ordered. Single rear wheel? 4:10 rear end? F350?
It looks like I will get a buyback from Ford on my 05 for extensive repetitive, engine problems. They are rebuilding or replacing my engine now. I am wondering whether to change rear gear ratios for better fuel economy?
