1 or 2 freak cases does not set a trend.
There are thousands of people out there without any problems at all.
Sorry if this has been addressed already - I went back several pages. I have the 1704A for my '05. At Ford today they told me a new flash is available for my truck, did I want it? I said no. Will my tuner still work if the dealer puts a new flash on the PCM? If not what do I need to do?
I didn't want to hijack the thread but.....
Steve, what brand of remote start do you have? Do you like it? Would you get a different one next time?
Anyone else with comments about remote starts???
Thanks for your input,
Howard
I've got a Pursuit Pro 9800 Alarm with remote start built-in. I like it a lot because one of the key fobs has an LCD display that provides a LOT of information about what's going on with the truck. It also has a VERY long range compared to less expensive alternatives. It allows for several modes of autostart operation (some automatic, based on time or temperature), and seems to work very well.
One problem I had was that the alarm would sometimes go off while the truck was running after an autostart (but before I went out and got in). The installers changed the shock sensor setting so that it is only active when the truck is NOT running. That solved the unwanted alarm events.
This brand is really the same as the Audiovox Prestige series (Audiovox owns the Pursuit brand, which is used to label "dealer-installed" alarm products), so unless you go to a dealer you'll want to search out the equivalent Audiovox alarm, which is functionally identical.
Hope this is helpful!
Steve
PS ...and now back to our regularly scheduled program, "As The Tire Burns" starring the SCMT family of performance products!!

Trust me, the way I want to drive this thing now, I'm gonna break something. Absolutely amazing. Took my wife out for a spin today and her jaw dropped. She looked over at me around 3rd gear with this amazed look on her face and said "A truck this big is not supposed to go this fast"

Surprised I got nothing on this question considering it affects all 1704As. Must have been addressed already. If anyone is wondering you WILL be required to send in the unit to Superchips in case you get the new flash. I for one will avoid the new flash as long as possible.
O.k. I love the power of the Superchip, but now I want more. What is the best exhaust to go with it? Will I benifit alot from an exheaust with the superchip? I am looking for a turbo back exhaust. I do not want it to be any louder than stock. I want to make sure that I will not have any warranty issuses. Can I still have just a 4" tip? Thanks for any info.

It all depends on if that flash is in the tuners current database.
If in doubt, ask the dealer for the calibration revision Ford is going to give you, and call superchips to find out if it is in the tuner.
I should have given a bit more detail. Superchips told me that once (if) I get the new flash I need to hook the tuner to the truck to download the new flash into it, then send the unit back to Superchips. No charge except for shipping according to them.

That is absolutely correct if it ends up being the latest flash and is not already in the tuners database. I got the latest flah about a month ago (they didn't give me an option) and my 1704 didn't have the new codes in the database. Luckily for me I live right up the road from Superchips and was able to just go drop mine off for a reprogram. Superchips told me that the codes were new to them all together and they had to work with it awhile to get the desired power out of it. After two weeks I picked it up, no charges, and I'm just as happy as ever. Vic, give my thanks to the guys in the shop that got 'er going again, I think she may be even better than before.
