Where did you buy the tuner?
Also, what date was the tuner produced (on back) and what is the "firmware version" (plugging into the truck will tell you this).

You can almost count on 2.
The F550's made less stock power (at the tire), and with all that load they need more power.
Thanks for the answers VIC... I guess this might be an obvious stupid answer but is milage better with lets say the tow compared to econ, performance tunes? how much smoke can I expect from the tunes? I already have muf delete pipe and modified AIRAID intake.
The dyno graph on the Superchips web site it that whp? Are the power fig for the different tunes whp aswell? Thanks.

The graphs are in fact rear wheel HP.

Tow makes no smoke at all, econ makes VERY little, performance makes a puff at initial WOT takeoff.

Your best mileage will depend on a lot of factors, so no one tune will necessarily give you your best overall mileage.

I have gone one year with my truck in HP mode with no EGT gauge and no problems. I am interested in what temps you guys have reached with your truck in HP mode? Also can 2003 6.0l handle high temps better?

I have the full Banks intake and exhaust, and in HP mode have seen in excess of 1400 degrees at max throttle, unloaded. When it gets to 1400, I take my foot out of it. That is at high altitude (6000+ ft.), on a hot day.

Can a Superchips 1704 read the trouble codes on a random 2001 7.3 engine?

I haven't timed it exactly, but by the time I reach 70-80 MPH (Full throttle acceleration onto highway) or so, it is right up there.

Lets all try to remember this is a discussion thread, not a tech line.

To answer your question, the 1704 will not read codes on a 7.3 because it speaks "scp" instead of "can".

The 1704 will read codes on some 04+ F150, 05 mustange, etc...

Please, no more questions regarding this subject. Call superchips directly for these types of questions.

My truck can belch out nearly solid black clouds in any mode - tons in HP, and a little in tow - could that be becasue I am at hight altitude (6000+)??

Yeah.....high altitude is a different story.

Did you ever see the original Hummer H1 reviews?
They had hellacious problems with smoke at high altitude.
I've curbed it as best as possible, but its still gonna smoke more at high altitude.

Also, the 03's smoke more than 04-06

Ah ha, I was going to argue with Vic (LOL) about the puff.

Mine is more like a fog, but it could be worse (or better in my eyes) !!!

You can see my fog in the vid in my sig

I'm impressed...I just got and tryed the SCMT yesterday and here is my take. Note this is on my truck that is a F550 4.88 rr weighing 10600 so it will not wow as much as a 250/350. Still I tryed the tow first, it's alright didn't notice if the engine was quieter at idle or not. Power is probably a little better than stock untill you hit about 3/4 throtle than look out, you can feel it take off, no black smoke shifts at 3500, same as stock. Then I went right into hp wow, now the truck rock & rolls. when you lay on it from a stand still, it's the same as stock, waiting for the rpms and turbo psi to build(remember my truck is heavy so that effects everything). When the right amount of rpm/turbo psi hits...it shoots out as if I just got rear ended by an 18 wheeler fully loaded!!! It sling shots it way throught the gears. It shifts at a ice 3900rpm. Smoke is there through out but not alot. In my truck possibly because of the weight, the turbo lag is their everytime you mash the peddle then bam. Even at any speed. when cruising and you need some speed you can just give it some throttle and it pulls smoothly. Fuel wise I can guranty it will be worse because as VIC says the more you drive it hard the worse the mpg. In econ mode It was little dif from hp. Smokes a bit less.
Today I will put back the tow and see how it is pulling over 10t. of course I'll be easy with the throttle, hehe.

One thing, Vic, why does it ask if my truck is over 10000pounds? mine is 10600pounds, should I not use the hp mode.
