Superchips 6.0 Microtuner Thread
just see how it does on another truck and soften the shift a bit and trust that it is right for his ???
I'm cornfused... which doesn't take much

I will then attempt to duplicate the issue with his specific codes.
If I can duplicate it, I can make the necessary changes.
Even if I can't duplicate it, I still know how to solve the issue.
Although my truck says DAXO on the computer it has been reflashed to "3U7A FTC" in Jan. How does this one do with the 1704??
Bob
TEC2 and later flashes are fine =o)
Well....it's Friday night and I'm out the door =o)
Thanks for all your time and great information you have given to this thread , really like the support you give the 1704
If you have a flash earlier than this, you need to update your flash before using the tuner.
Also, this is a bit weird and out of sequence on Fords part:
DAX1 processors will need to be updated to DAX0.
DAX1 still uses pilot injection and these stock files are a serious problem.
If you have a PCM labeled DAX1 (PCM is wedged between battery and driver side fender), please check your records and make sure you have been updated to a DAX0 or another code other than DAX1.
So if we are having problems with firm shifts and hanging around the 30 to 35 mph that is normal with the SCMT ? How long does it take to send back and get the tuner updated. cause it would be terrible to with out my tuner for a long time.
Thanks once again Vic.

All of what you have asked is in this thread, if you do not want to wait to call them on Monday...
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
Mine has a 5/03 flash DAXO which from what I have seen, makes more power than later flashes. The Predator I have removed all the problems with the flash, hard smoky start, ect.
The previous two tanks were on the Hi Perf tune with moderate lead foot action trying out the new gadget so after getting that out of my system it was time to try out the Econo tune and see how it performs.
Definitely more get up and go than the stock tune but not the holy cow performance of the Hi Perf. Shifts were firm on this tune just like the HP tune, and as some other users have noted, they can seem a bit abrupt under light throttle sometimes. The shift in the high 30s mph range under light throttle doesn't happen as early as it seems that it should when rolling along on flat ground and not accelerating. I think that this might be hurting fuel mileage a tad.
But overall, my impression of the Econo tune is that driveability is good with the truck unloaded. I think that it would seem better actually pulling a load. EGTs are low with a max recorded value being around 950 at full throttle acceleration up the 10%+ grade near my house. Max boost was about 27 psi.
The mileage is a bit better than what I had been seeing stock for a tank of city only driving forth and back to work. I only live 4 miles from work and have to climb up and down a couple of hills each way, one of them being the 10%+ hill mentioned above. I expect that highway mileage will be at least as good as the 18+ MPG that I was seeing in the stock tune.
Looking forward to pulling my trailer with the SC. I'm going to try pulling in the Econo tune even though my trailer is above the weight limit for that tune. I'll keep a close eye on the Pyro and see what happens.
Daryl
(edit) I should have noted that my pyro probe is located preturbo on the exhaust manifold.

It's not "tech 1" or "tech 2", it's TEC1 or TEC2.
The letters just happend to sound like the word. "tech".
It could have been ABC, DEF, or any three letters and a number in nomenclature (like DAX0)
The 1704 will give back whatever stock file was in the truck when you tuned it with the 1704. If you set it back to stock and go to Ford....if they install a new flash, the 1704 will save th new flash as your new stock program and tune accordingly. If you truck runs fine now...just let it be...no need for unnecessary updates =o)
I'm not getting into any more flash discussions in here because it opens up 1,000 questions about "Is my flash supported" and the subject has become agonizingly redundant. I have already answered most of these questions.
Flashes before 9-29-03 are not supported. DAX0 is not supported.
If you have any other questions regarding flash, call superchips directly.
If you have DAX0, make sure Ford updates your PCM before installing your tuner. If not, the tuner will currently tell you to call superchips for an update.
When you call us with the hex codes that the tuner gives you, superchips will tell you to have Ford update your truck before attempting to reinstall the tuner.
The tuner will not tune your truck (it will tell you to go to Ford for an update, or to call superchips for an update) if it does not see an acceptable flash in it....so don't worry.
Please, in this thread, no more questions as to which flash is better than others or if the tuner will work on your truck.
If you have any more questions about what flashes are supported, call superchips directly. They have a list of which flashes are supported (and this list contains proprietary information with it, so it can not be released, but they can verbally tell you if your flash is supported and what to do if it is not.)
If you have your hex code, box code, or calibration code and call superchips directly, they will tell you if it's supported.
