It's really not much stress at all.

Actually, a good burnout is less hard on the drivetrain than hard acceleration.
When it's burning out, the only "real" stress is on the tires. All of the load is wasted away through wheelspin.

Vic,

Yes ford did do a reflash of my truck, but the reflash was done prior to me buying the programmer and I do understand that their is no way you (superchips) could have had this latest flash. I was just trying to give you and everyone a heads up on the fact that it nocked the truck in the head power wise and the towhaul is not working like it did before the reflash. After the flash the truck ony downshifts one time and it is a soft one at that! Prior to this flash it would downshift 3 times around 50 30 15mph. Curently I get one at like 25-30 mph. And no brake controller under 25 MPH!!!

I am going to order a scmt today from motorhaven. My bigest question is what is a good brand pyro guage. I am very new to this and would go to someone to have it installed. I would just like a few names of the better brads.
Thanks

That is very correct I only hit about 22 pounds of boost during the whole thing and most likely that was coming out of the hole.

And YES very hard on tires.

Thanks
BD Performance X-Monitor, Autometer, Isspro. I would recommend boost and pyro, and if you have an automatic get a tranny temp also.

Just got back from a trip to the Eastern Sierra's. ( Tahoe and Mammoth) I am running 35" tires on my 05 CC desiel. I was still getting 15-16mpg. I was not towing anything, but I had fishing and camping gear for 4 to last 10 days. I am very pleased with the power. I used the economy mode on the way up, and the HP mode on the way back. Seemed to have better mpg with the HP. My only complaint is it did not want to shift while I was climbing a hill from a stand still. I had all the power in the world, but would not shift until 3900 rpms. Once it actually shifted, the truck would slingshot out. Not sure if you understand what I am saying, I am having a hard time trying to explain.

The shift in HP is prgrammed like that. The reason for not shifting on a hill from a standstill is because you are applying more throttle which in turn raises the shifts points which is 3900rpm.

If you want it to shift sooner back off the throttle when you want it to shift then reapply when it does.

Are you asking for an actual measuement?

Some people are comfortable doing it, others are not.

If I owned one, it would probably happen at least a few times a week =o)

I shall be answering that question shortly...
To put it in perspective, you put 13.4kN (10k lb.ft) through the rear axle in low range and creeper gear @ 2000rpms....

I guess my concerns are how many kN or lb.ft the transfer case, F/R driveshafts, F/R ends and axleshafts are rated. I am having trouble quantifying it...it isn't in my owners manual.

I have a friend with a 04 6.0 and he has the SCMT on Econo tune with the EGR unplugged and it runs great. He is going on a hunting trip this weekend where he will be going up a pretty serious mountain grade for about 5 k feet steep climb at 70 mph. He will not be towing anything, but will have 4 people and 200lbs of gear in the bed. Should he put his SCMT in Tow Safe mode or just leave it in Econo mode? He doesn't have gauges to monitor Exhaust Temp. The guy driving has a lead foot and might try to go 80 mph up the mountain so I need to give him some real safe advice not to melt anything.

If not towing should run HP. IMO

As far as the amount of weight you are talking about there should be no worries in any of the 3 settings.

I do that all the time in HP mode with no problems. He can leave it in Econo mode with no worries.
