1. Shifting is overly harsh at light throttle.
2. Shift points seem too high at light throttle.
3. Empty mpg has decreased from 18.2 to 16.5 (a lot of stop and go driving in 35 mph speed zone and some interstate, same trip every day)
4. Shifts pulling 4200lb toy hauler are much smoother.
5. MPG pulling toy hauler at 70mph has increased from 11.7 to14.1.
6. Mpg empty at 70mph seems about the same 18.2 - 18.6.
7. Power both empy and loaded is AWESOME!

I think city mpg would be increased considerably if shift points at light throttle were lower. Overall shifting is very similar to running empty in Tow Haul mode after system has learned with my 4200lb trailer. I'm sure it's not easy to reach a happy median between performance and economy, but with your expertise I know you will overcome some of these minor irritants. I doo love my SC tuner and would buy it again. Thanks for your time and efforts.
THIS IS WHAT I LIKE TO SEE!!!!!

You have some issues (good and bad), and a little "data" to go with it.

The shift point and pressure issue at light throttle is being resolved right now.
This is more of a preference thing, but I'm changing it nonetheless.

The 03 strategy trucks will have this change in the database by the end of next week.
This includes a lighter part throttle shift and a lower part throttle shift.
Everything else is the same =o)

If you have this issue with your tuner, call superchips for an RA# and it will be updated according to the new database update =o)

I am on your side in this to the degree that i'm on Ken's side.(only slightly different) We want the people to buy your product, secondly we want them to buy some product from Ken. Most of these people are friends that visit all the 6.0 threads . None are vicious making attacks against you or SC. If they do, we do our best to straighten them out.
There was one this morning that was upset about not having the numbers.
We may kid around but we like you and your product and support what you are doing. Sorry if I said anything to upset you.

I have not the base of knowledge to challenge you, that is why I never have.
I haven't even asked you a question in quite some time.

How have I attacked you? I think you read my name in the middle of the drivel that happened this morning and afternoon and somehow got the Idea that I attacked you.. Go back and check again. You will find I always defend you.
......fair enough.

Lets move on =o)

Vic,

You are making the harsh shift change on the high performance tune too right?

Thanks,

Kevin

I am so glad to see this. I have the same feeling about the harsh shifts and "hanging" onto gears to long before shifts. I will call Superchips for a RA# and to find out more.

On a side note, is there any limit to how many times you can program the trucks tune?

Thanks,

Mark

I am relatively confident the answer is no limit

That is great news regarding the shift points/harshness on the 1704 in econo mode Vic. I'm a newbe to the diesel world( two day old F350) but was going to get a tuner for my new ride asap.
My needs are for getting more torque/hp lower in the powerband for towing and general drivability and economy, as it seems to take way too much pedal to get going, and the 1704 sounded like it would help.
If the shiftpoint/harshness is improved,(especially in econo mode) it seems that this is exactly what I need. I think thats what most of us really want is better power and drivability everyday. Its not real world to measure things with the pedal all the way to the floor all the time - although it is a blast with this beast!!
If I order one now is the revised tuning/ shifting available ? Thanks for the help.

Vic , I am seeing the same harsh shift in economy mode , does that mean the new version will fix that? If so do we call SC themselves or from where we purchased it .

<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

As far as improvements the tuner made to my truck I would recommend it to anyone that has a 6 liter, the power is great. As far as the mileage gain I can not give info on that till I return home from work next month. I hated to have to go back to work since I got my SC tuner in , but have to pay for all the toys right.

<o></o>

I am also looking into air filter or exhaust system, what do you recommend would work well with the SC.

<o></o>

Thanks for all your input on this product and support as others mentioned before. I too made my decision based your support of the product threw this great site.

<o></o>

Thanks to all

I hope that I recieve my order while I still have this same set of tires....I mean three weeks and waiting is just a bit much...even for a delivery to way up Canada. I recieve parcels from England and Spain in half that time.

Meanwhile..talk about the nick of time award or to paraphrse that ..good things come to those who wait..got my 1704 this morning, plugged er in and went into the first program and she certainly do honk..I'll finish reading the manual and see where I go from here..although I can see what people are talking about with the shifting out of third gear..I fiound that I just had enough and had to boot it to get it into the next gear which of coarse can raise some eyebrows depending where you happen to be. So I'm looking forward to tomorrow. But anyway' ya ..she do honk on some.
p.s. heads up for Canucks....it's another $45.00 to pick it up after it's sent
up here.. no problem to do with Motorhaven..just duty, pst and gst taxes
