Yeah, I've had that problem with the drive line shock but I feel it way more in Econ. On a side note I will have to de-tune my truck and set it back to stock for a while. I think some of the demons are catching up with the truck. It needs to go to the dealer becuase the steering has developed about 2 inches of play and between 2000 and 3000 rpm the truck has lost all its guts (at least with the HP tune) Hope its nothing serious...
Hey guys i run the 1704 and have been very pleased.
A few weeks ago i had to reflash the PCM so i put it to stock and checked for codes.
There were none.
I picked the truck up and the dealer says they had to change the EBP sensor.
I was under the impression that the SCMT would have picked up a code for that?
If the EGR or EBP go bad and need a changing will the tuner catch a code for that?
The tuner will give you the ability to set the truck back to stock at any time. It will restore whatever program was in the truck before you plugged our product in. Codes will be erased (not just hidden, but erased) so there will be no way they can tell tuning was installed.
My brother and I had some debates over that matter, ty for the info, I also use the 1704 max micro and have been very satisfied with its performace addition to my 2004 F-350.... wish i had a pic, lots of money invested. 1 bit of advice, dont pull a gooseneck with it turned up, she'll fire them EGT's up and overheat on ya in a heartbeat

It seems ford can still detect tuning but i'm not sure how exactly.
Anyway, the most secure way to remove any tuning with the SCMT is to do what a member here shared with me.
Unload tuned program and install stock program.
Reload a scmt tune .
Re-install stock program.
All this without starting truck.
Hadn't heard of the need to repeat but erring on the side of caution can't hurt. I myslef just go back to stock tune but I do it 1 or 2 days before a dealer visit.
Funny story - had a friend who had his truck tuned with SCMT tuner. He de-tuned it prior to going intot he dealership but he still got a call stating that tuning can void the warranty or something. Freaked him out how they knew. He had the SCMT stickers that come with the tuner, one on each window They still honored the warranty work but I bet his VIN is on some kind of list for this dealership to watch now...
BTW - I am now using the Tow Safe tune on my truck, I think it is by far the best one. Responsive transmission, no dead spots in the RPM range and not nearly as much black smoke but it still kicks butt off the line, with or without 6000lbs behind it!
I frequently gross 27.5k pounds, I never take mine out of HP mode, and I have never seen it over 1250 degrees. Even with the air on!
Which set of Xmonitor guages do you guys prefer? The analog or the digital? How difficult are they to install. I want to install them on my 05 on the window post on the left. Is that the best place to install them?
Soft Shifting in HP mode after battery disconnect??
Ok, here goes my kinda long story.
My odometer stopped working (showed "test" all the time) but, my speedo still worked so I was told it was the instrument cluster itself. Then about two weeks after that the fuel gauge decided to stay at full all the time.
So I decided to disconnect the batteries to see if it just need to be reset it worked for the odometer and the sending unit in the tank is what was causing the full condition.
Now the question I had HP mode loaded when I disconnected the batteries, when I reconnected it seemed to have soft shifts like stock again! So I gave it week for the learning proccess and didn't help it. So I loaded the stock tune back into it, then reloaded the HP tune, still the shifts seem soft.
My tuner is one of the earlier ones that still had the snappy part throttle shift. I like it that way I want them back!
Vic, is it normal for the 2005 PSD torqueshift to slam into gear and belch out black smoke at part throttle? Mine does this when I am slowing down for someone in front of me to turn and I give it about half throttle, it kind of hesitates(turbo lag?) then downshifts pretty violantly and blows a puff of black smoke. I have a 1704-A in HP mode. Thanks.
