Has anyone experience a rattle and/or a sound like the flexing of sheet metal on their PSD? Mine occurs when getting on the throttle and having to suddenly let off. When I get out of the throttle, I hear what sounds like shaking a piece of sheetmetal for a couple seconds.
Thats what my turbo sounded like before it went out
You guys sure it's not the dreaded turbo fart? Recreating the situation you describe, I also get a weird noise coming from the turbo and have been told by many that it's turbo fart. Someone else can explain what this means better than me. BTW, I don't think it happens in stock mode because the engine revs lower and slower in stock vs. tuned.
I tried to read most of these posts but there are a lot! Anyway I just recently installed a 1704-A in my 05 F-350CC 6.0 . I was just leaving on a trip with my toy hauler (heavy) so I set it to tow-safe mode. Shortly after arrival and after the tow, the truck would run very rough and smoke(blue) a lot for about 10 to 15 seconds after startup (warm or cold) then clear and run normal. I retuned to performance mode and it started fine. I then reset to tow-safe for the tow home and it has worked ok so far with just a little stumbling and considerable smoke on startup. Anybody have any ideas or similar problems?
I just got the new superchips tuner and WOW!!! The power is unreal in the new 6.0 PSD. I have one question however.
1. when you re-install stock programing to take to the dealer, there is P* code that comes up. In the manual it states that this code is for the truck to learn your driving style and that this is the only code that is not erased. My question is, do I need to drive my truck for a certain amount of time before I take it to the dealer for work so that the P* code is not there. It seems to me that if it is there then they would know that tuning has been changed recently.
Thanks for all your help and for helping me decide to go with the Superchips tuner.

It takes some miles and drive cycles to go away...usually a few days of normal driving.
Honestly, the P1000 will come up if you disconnect the battery (or "I jumpstarted someone" or "I disconnected the battery because the truck sat for a week").
P1000 is a code seen regularly on stock trucks.

Again, nothing legal related, just information.
Well, we all know the surging is related to EGR, EBP or a problem with the VVT. I was working on some documentation for this, but am knee deep in other projects right now.
If you want a hint as to what's coming, check out the superchips website.
There is also a rotating left margin ad on the forums here site that will give you some information on what will be available.
hint:
"power plus"
Remember the complaints of non-USB updateable tuners?
=o)
It will be nice to see that released. It will not end the tuner wars but that feature and the other capabilites will quiet a lot of the retoric from the most rabidly pro other tuner brand people.
Hopefully there will be some form exchange credit for upgrades from 1704 users. I would understand if there isn't but it sure would be nice!!
O.K., I have been reading this thread for quite some time now. I have a 2005 F250 CC 4x4 PSD. I have 35" tires but am thinking of 37"s. Other than putting the SC programmer in, it is completely stock. Sorry for dragging this on, but I want to know if this programmer is right for me. Has anything changed to the programmer for the different years?

Vic, I second this sentiment 100%!! If you would be kind enough to pass it on to the "powers that be," we'd all appreciate it. USB upgradeability was the single feature I REALLY hated giving up when I decided on the 1704 and I'd gladly pay for an upgrade if Superchips offers a reasonable exchange/upgrade deal, especially since mine is less than six months old and in "mint" condition.

It is absolutely for you.
I have a lot of guys running it with 37+" tires
Remember, if you are running a stock gear, you should change it to compensate for the larger tires, or you will be driving under excessive LOAD, whether your truck is stock or tuned.
