I think any sort of retaining ring/clip/doodad that does not fit snugly in the groove will perform poorly. I wonder if it is feasible to put threads on that end of the HPOP to use a threaded collar instead.
Ive thought about those. The only thing that concerns me is I've had some ratchets that use those to retain the anvil, and the avils always wobble/are held in less tight with spiral retainers vs a snapring.
I guess I could compare the thickness of the spiral retainer with the snap ring and see how close it is.
Did yours blow out? They are all made that way and usually work fine. If you change it, Joey won't guarantee it. I'd leave it. I've had mine for years now and I think I might be able to see a small drop to. I have one of his first HPOP's, it has work great!
Returned the rod bolts to International yesterday. They hit me with a 20% restocking fee, but even after the ARP bolts, courtesy of @ESwift , still come out 50 dollars ahead.
Auto machine shop says they are still on track for end of May completion.
I’m hoping a speedy restock from ARP. My block is done, I have I believe everything ordered or sitting at the house already and I’m only waiting on rod studs and main studs. With my luck they’ll ship after I have surgery so everything will have to sit and wait a month or more.
Glad you’re getting everything lined up and together. If you feel like I do about mine you sure miss your truck.
If you have a pile of money just laying around you can get the rod bolts from International and the main bolts+girdle from CNC. Last I heard from ARP they were projecting August... dunno if that's slipped since.
Yeah it'd be nice to have two working vehicles again, especially since the Hyundai's engine seems to be destroying itself.

I may have a lead on another set of the arp 250-6303 via a facebook club
Definitely holler if something comes up. I was debating going with the CNC girdle and getting the studs with it. When I talked to BitterRoot, they were told from ARP June/July so hopefully early. I need the truck together for a camping trip the first of august. Obviously earlier would be better but I don’t want to rush the process. This time I will make certain everything is done exactly how I want it and I won’t have to redo anything, atleast not to laziness.

I wouldn’t expect anything early with the current supply chain issues. You’re more likely to end up with additional unexpected delays. I work in manufacturing and this has been life over the last couple of years.
As if I wasn't doing enough non-stock stuff on this engine, I've a line on a Horton electromagnetic fan clutch.
It comes with a normally open 210-198 degree switch... not sure if that'll pair well with my stock thermostat or if it'd be better to get the NO 205-193 switch?

I don’t know which switch is best, but an on-demand fan should definitely increase POWER and MPG.
I have one from a bus engine I bought awhile back. Maybe I’ll make time to install it when I get around to swapping my engine out..... At the current rate, you’ll be done by then and providing feedback on all of your mods!

I do like power and MPG. If I could realize the 400+ HP goal while getting better MPG than before I'd consider this build a success. Also hoping some of these choices, like the total seal 2nd rings and maybe a racor ccv filter, will translate to longer oil change intervals too.
Picked up exhaust manifolds, turbo housing, and pistons from the ceramic shop. They did an absolutely beautiful job. No more rust concerns, and hopefully some tangible efficiency gains.
Just be aware that injector more fuel, does not usually lead to more mpg. In order for that you would have to refrain from using that 400hp. That said, your setup seems like it should be very efficient overall
