Got the pistons today. Going to take them, turbo housing, and manifolds to get ceramic coated tomorrow. Removed the second piston rings to send to total seal for gapless conversion. Note: don't get the cheap piston ring pliers from the auto parts store; they are junk and will only serve to scratch up your shiny new pistons (insert all manner of angry swearing here).
Will also be sending out injectors tomorrow to Rosewood for a rebuild/single shot conversion, and my HPOPs to Terminator.
Have also been thinking about incorporating a Racor 4500 as I really hate all the oil build up in the intake. When combined with the total seal rings should result in a huge reduction of soot in the engine oil, meaning longer oil change intervals!
Yeah. Same place that does RRs coated pistons. High temp on top, slick coated skirts, oil shedding bottom. Also getting the manifolds and turbo housing done up in their satin black (said it's the most durable color).
Terminator turned my pump around in a few days and got it back to me via USPS. Very impressed. I think I'm going to change out the rear snap ring though for one of those "internal teeth" rings like my PS pump has as extra insurance against rear blowouts. Anyone know what size snap ring the rear of the HPOP uses?
Jim at Rosewood gave me a call today saying injectors are done (I have a nasty cold... amazed he understood anything I said haha). Nothing out of the ordinary to report in regards to their condition. Great experience with Jim as we've spoken a lot about injector choices and related matters, and he always found time to relay the insights of his considerable knowledge in detail.
Also got some OSG spiral taps to clean up the block's main, head, and exhaust bolt threads (much better investment than ARP's over priced thread chasers).
Ive thought about those. The only thing that concerns me is I've had some ratchets that use those to retain the anvil, and the avils always wobble/are held in less tight with spiral retainers vs a snapring.
I guess I could compare the thickness of the spiral retainer with the snap ring and see how close it is.
