I had my friend stop by to inspect and pick up some parts today. Not gonna lie, about shed a tear when I saw the picture. Initial measurements look bang on. Ring gaps have all been set. Owner had to cut and resize the big end of the Brian Crower rods because they were on the large side.
Cannot convey the weight off the shoulders. The weight of the bill feels far better than the weight of uncertainty and wasted time.
Looks good. Do they sell a oil pan for it or do you have to modify one?
They do sell one but it's barebones (no dipstick adapter, no baffle, etc) and over a grand before shipping.
I'm going to try to cut down the stocker and have a new flange welded on. I know a good TIG guy... all goes well it's a couple hundred in labor. Bigger issue is fabricating an oil pickup that plays nice with the bedplate.
One of the multitude of diesel companies should make little conical "spacers" so that we can use class 12.9 bolts to hold the injectors.
Got the oil cooler apart today. Some nice looking shards in there.
The BBQ paint I used on the turbine housing isn't holding up so I'm looking at having it and the manifolds ceramic coated (paint still looks good on the down pipe though). The housing would be rather cheap to do but the manifolds look like they'll be ~300 to do the pair. Was wondering if anyone had experience with Rudy's ceramic manifolds? https://rudysdiesel.com/i-30514397-r...werstroke.html . Cheaper than having mine coated and they are new. Plus would have a better sealing surface for the up-pipes.
Machinist said around 80 to grind down the front cover mating surface. Waiting to hear on how much it'd cost to remove the HPOP res gasket lip. Might be cheaper to just get the spacer.
In regard to the boost gauge, was looking at mechanical because it's around 100 dollars cheaper haha
Hi, did you ever get any feedback on the rudys diesel manifolds? Did you purchase them? Use them?
I purchased a set, but the mechanic is a little leary as he says they look like others he has use that have had a problem with mount bolt ears cracking off
