Got my test FICM. Let’s see what it goes. Got my replacement injectors coming tomorrow. This weekend I’ll have the FICM, 2 injectors for cylinders 4 and 6 and then the high pressure oil rail check valve. It should solve it. Let’s cross our fingers
The one bad thing about doing more than one thing to repair/diagnose
an issue is thing 1 might fix it and thing 2 may undo the repair.
So I know it's more work. But the way to do it really would be only do one thing then retest.
going to start with FICM then drive around then do the injectors and check valve for next repair. I may do the check valve first and leave the valve cover semi loose so I can do the injectors next.
Ok we’ll FICM was a bust. Not much change noted during my power balance test. removed injector 4 and 6. No leakage past the copper sealing washer detected. It seems the new check valve may have a slightly larger hole. It’s not scientific but I can tell a difference in the resistance it takes to blow through the orifice. New one is less effort.
Old check valve for oil rail New check valve for oil rail
That's why I said move 4 and 6 injectors, and if the dips followed, replace. I've been down this path.
I agree I would have done things more methodically but at the end of the time my time is limited right now to put into this thing. It was more about solving the issue as fast as possible. I do feel better having a newer FICM as well. Got a spare unit for backup just in case.
bad injectors out of the box happen I guess. We shall see. No codes have come back and the contributions are very similar.
Overall I appreciate everyone here and their input to help me with this project AKA money pit lol.
Have a terrific 4th of July and remember to think of those who made this wonderful country possibly.
