Recheck compensated/uncompensated when hot as you are going to do, but the issue may not be in the testing rpm range. Switch injectors 4 and 6 to 2 and 8 and see if the unbalance follows the injectors. If so, replace injectors. If not, starting thinking the issue may be FICM related.
Only move one pair at a time. My first one would be #4 and I would put it at #2 or if you get one fresh injector.
Then I would do only #4 snd see how things look after.
I am thinking that #5 and #6 may be caused by #4.
Over the years I have picked up some core injectors on Ebay for turn ins so I don't have to pull a stick and
then rush to stuff a fresh one in while waiting of core refund. Also when my cores go back to Ford I pull the
plugs. I have not tried returning one with the coils off yet.
After a 20 minute drive at about 50mph. The engine felt decently smooth at idle. I suspect when it starts acting up cylinders 4 and 6 get worse. Going to have to try to get this thing heat soaked. The cooler weather and rain has probably helped my under hood temps. Next step I’m going to see if I can just get two new injectors from ford under warranty to eliminate that variable. I also have the oil rail check valve I wanted to try. Cylinder 2 is slightly down but not crazy but 4/6 as Suspect
Hot compression test After 30 minutes driving. No codes set engine felt pretty smooth. Cool ambient temperatures. Cylinder 2,4,6 seem to be problem children? Cylinder 8 oddly seems like its ok.
I would blame #6 as a reaction to #5 that is up because of #4.
So if you going to move #4 I would use 1,2,7 or 8 as the location.
i would think the opposite cylinders adding excessive fuel are compensating to keep the engine speed up because of the anticipated weak cylinders. Maybe I’m wrong? To me it seems 4 and 6 are causing issues. Number 2 maybe a very small amount at idle.
re ran my bubble test when hot to confirm there was no combustion gases going back into the fuel side. What are the chances of 3 faulty motorcraft injectors out of the box ending up on the same oil rail?
FICM or oil rail check valve is my hunch. Back to work these past few days so My time is more limited.
Well you could move the injectors or the rails.
If you move the rails then you know what is what if the issue moves with the rail.
If it stays put them it's the injectors or FICM.
Uncompensated after 35 minute highway drive. Cool ambient temperatures (72f). It seems to get worse when the engine is heat soaked. 2,4,6 seem to be consistent under performers. Hopefully doing the check valve install this week and trying some new injectors on 2 and 4. I almost wonder if it’s the ficm acting up when the under hood temperatures climb. It gets worse when the ambient is about 100+. Strange Cylinder cut out
