We’ll I got my first oil leak LPOP regulator Front main seal Leak? Top of the LPOP cover?
well got a few drips of oil on my driveway. Looks like it’s been kinda wet on the LPOP cover. I’m guessing that new front main seal is the culprit. Only lasted 5000 miles lol.
Did you " hammered" the seal in, or did you pressed it in with the install tool?
I don’t remember but I used a tool on the rear. I may have hammered it in. Probably need to just replace it with a new one and use the tool to press it instead of hammering it to death. I think I have a new one laying around. Live n learn
Anyone have a front seal installation tool? I’ll pay shipping both ways and a small fee. Knock on wood the rear seal is doing fine because that would make me cry lol
Yeah, we could do that. Not sure the best shipping price these days, but as you know for the brackets, I usually send USPS Priority. I know it won't fit in one of the small boxes, but the next step up. Probably with insurance, around $22 each way.
Is the Felpro a good front seal? Or should I use motorcraft?
I used felpro head gaskets, rear seal, rear cover, HPOP cover, rocker box seal, valve cover seal, bed plate seal, and oil pan seal. Mahle front cover kit which includes the front main.
I honestly don't think it's the gasket manufacturer's fault. I have never had any problems with FelPro products.
Honestly though, with the exception of head- and exhaust manifold gaskets, I always try to use Ford gaskets.
I’ve used Motorcraft and National. National was incorporated into Federal-Mogul, like us, and was the OE supplier to International for the front and rear seals on this engine.
I was only noting that the seal was not factory, not saying it was inferior. I have no judgement.

oh ok. Wasn’t sure. I would hate to do it a third time. It’s a pretty easy job so not too worried. I may just use a felpro as they are readily available for a good price unless someone has a reason not too.
Have you perhaps installed the sleeve and the seal separately?
In my opinion, the best installation option is when both are installed together with the special tool.
