The plan is to test the color on the tailgate to verify I like it before buying a lot of a color that Im not thrilled with. The sandable primer is on, the real work begins!
the booth is working perfectly, pulling the mist away from the panel gently!

Reason: Photo
I wish my tailgate was that straight... mine looks like complete hammered ****!
Also if you scroll back a few posts you will see I had to weld up 8 freaking holes! I hammer & dolley a few dents out of the single layer but left the dents in the double layers. Thanks for the encouragement!
Do you see any change in the photo? This is why bodywork costs so $&%# much!
Sanding around the letters takes time and patience! I found there are more curves and details to these tailgates than meets the eye.
I appreciate the encouragement! At this stage it takes all the willpower I have to try and get something done. I think the reason is that its hard to see any real progress until many sessions of work have passed ( unlike the brakes etc that I see changes each trip to the shop). Encouraging words really do help me off of dead center!
Todays plan is to finish wet sanding the tailgate and if there is enough time......
spray some color and clear!!

Man do I hear you on that. After 4 years when it came time for paint I had to force myself to do a good job on the prep work even if it was going to be a driver.
I also left some dents in my tail gate and side panels, again a driver but I was just done with body work that I hate doing!
If not too late see if you can hang the gate from rafters so you can paint both sides at once unless the horse were for pictures.
I used Home Depot ratch straps from the rafters.

Im putting bedliner on the inside of my tailgate. Lets see if the color shows up correctly on the screen. Supposed to be Ford Royal Blue...
These shots are without clearcoat while its still wet. I have wrinkle near the letters where I used different primer ##^*%!
Gotta let it dry fully and start over... trying to decide to clearcoat it just to make the color decision and rework it after the inspections or not.
Man, that is a nice color. You say it is bed liner? Looks pretty smooth. Is it extra thick? I would like to do the whole truck with that. My cousin runs hounds and his hunting vehicle takes a lot of abuse. He bedliners the entire vehicle but the stuff he uses is quite ruff.

Steve, thats normal urithane basecoat with clearcoat. I will be putting bed liner on the inside of the tailgate so only blue on one side.
OK, so maybe I should wake up! I thought it looked like you were painting the truck Red? Not this nice blue! People could bleed this color! lol So that was red primer? Duh!
