The ol' monster truck left us stranded partway to the coast this last Friday. We're thinking I lost the impellers on my water pump. Overheated on the way to Montesano from Olympia and lost a ton of fluid out the cap. Ex dropped into limp mode for a sec while I tried to pull over in a safe spot. Limped back to a Safeway and AAA'd the Ex back home. Turbo scooted down in his 6.0 to haul the trailer back home.

Having a backup that can handle the load is always a good thing.

@NW that sucks, at least someone was able to tow it right back. Are you going to fix it yourself?

Yeah, I'll just make a mess in the big garage bay again. A new Gates water pump is already on the way from RockAuto, so we'll see how that does. Curious to see what the existing one looks like when I pull it out. Also curious to see if a bad water pump was part of the reason my heaters suck.

Sorry to hear about that...crazy. Horrible way to start a weekend. I hope you get her repaired easily and cheaply.

@NW will you be replacing the serpentine belt and pulley's at the same time or were they done recently? Switching to Gold coolant? If you haven't changed the thermostat in a while I would do it now as well.

And I have this cool tool here in my tool bos for pulling the fan.
It used a pneumatic hammer (chisel) I bet it will even work with
my pneumatic rivet gun.

I did serpentine belt and tstat myself already. Also already flushed coolant to Zerex, which seems to work great. Didn't order any other parts, we'll see how things look. I can do more work later, but didn't feel like paying for more parts. I'll order more while it's torn apart if it looks like more work needs to be done right away. We're still guessing even with the water pump, although it seems kind of obvious.

Once you have the pump assembly out check the back of the front cover to be
sure that your not going to develop any holes into the oil side of the engine from
the coolant side. Not cool when that happens.

Happy weekend WA Peeps! What do folks have going on this weekend? We're headed to Jetty Island tomorrow and the wife told me I don't have to attend some neighborhood kid B-day party on Sunday (Love that woman).

Driving home after picking my son up from summer camp tonight and he asks "So Dad, when are we washing the truck?" LOL...he knows me so well.

Hoping to take the Seadoo out to Lake Washington for a couple hours, nothing else going on though.

@Yahiko hope the new truck works out for you. Would you ever consider a 6.2 gas?

I have way too much tooling for the 6.0L engine.
And after driving diesel I am not that fond of gas
any more. I guess it they took the alcohol I might
come back.

Gezzus....I gotta drop in here more often than I have in the past year.
Gonna address some tweaks to the ole 54 Panel and see if I can find a buyer.
If ya'll remember, it was featured as the truck of the week winner a couple seasons ago.
Maybe it's been longer...shoot. I can't remember. I just don't have time to pay any attention to it and feel it needs a much better home with someone who has the time to give the attention it deserves.
I'll post it for sale when I'm done fixin the little things. That's what goin on in my garage this weekend.

Sweet ride Captain.

Had a wheel cylinder on my Civic blow out, replaced the rear brakes, think I have air in the master cylinder now too as it didn't have any pressure.
