Well I'm going to start ripping the cooling system on my Ex apart this weekend if I can get a free minutes. Should make for an exciting time =P

Almost have the CR back together. Coolant flush and new tranny fluid before a test ride to the mailbox this weekend maybe... Everett Motocross opens for practice again on thursday, so i might try to make it.

Work related: Consumer Reports decided to take a dump on our entire product line this week based on some questionable/debatable data. That's interesting to say the least. Sure brings out all the internet trolls and "geniuses" if nothing else. Shake it off, stand by our products, and keep getting better is my mentality. I do think we make the best computers pound for pound.

About time to be mixing up Crown and Coke and hitting the Xbox until the wee hours of the morning 😀

Well I did some part swapping from the old truck to the new.

In the process found GREEN coolant in it. Gold or red not green.
Going to deal with that slimy mess this weekend. That should eat
a day. I got the Ford air cleaner moved from the old truck ti the new
one. The one that was on it was not any better than a K&N gauze
type. You could see light when looking through it. I need to give the
turbo a good looking at later to be sure it did not get dusted.

The back plug on the FICM was not plugged in tight but in looking
at things I found this little gem.

No wonder it has some romp to it.

@Onug How much is the Forscan? Sounds like a cool product for easily personalizing stuff.

@NW take your time.

@Yahiko always finding gems like the FICM is nice.

The dongle off amazon is $20-30. The app and license are free.

Water pump impellers were all accounted for and also metal. For whatever reason we thought they were plastic. Anyhow, the new coolant I flushed in this last winter looked just as nasty as the coolant pre-flush, so I'm glad I went ahead and bought a new radiator, fan clutch, and hoses, because we're back to not knowing exactly what the issue was. I'll get it all back together tomorrow or Tuesday. The new fan clutch has different screw threads/size than the previous part did, so I need to run to McDaniels. Need more Zerex coolant also, and oil while I'm at it. Then I'll plug the trailer in and see what happens. Need to run and clear the codes on the Ex also, since it dropped into limp mode when it overheated and triggered the service engine light.

Fun to tear things apart myself tho, Turbo and his dad (my dad in law) helped for a while also. The more we dig into this thing the more old and beat up it looks haha. Turbo spotted a busted manifold stud while we had things torn apart. The bolt was still sitting in the engine bay somehow... Looks lije it busted off a long time ago, so it's pretty wild that its still in the bay!

Left jug of coolant is from my winter flush, the right is my "new" coolant that went in after the flush.

oh yeah, got the bike ride ready too. Damn thing is still a rocket =)

@NW did you use a chemical when flushing? I only used distilled water but it didn't get any cleaner after the second round. I'm thinking I may do a Prestone or Motorcraft chemical next time.

I also have a couple studs missing, Header's in the box waiting for installation too. Just need some money or someone with knowledge on those to get it done.

Yeah I used the Prestone stuff when we flushed, but who knows if I performed the flush with maximum efficiency since I was my first go-round in 20 degree weather =P

I'll flush it again, the trouble is just being stuck with a million gallons of liquid that you have to store long enough to get rid of. If you didn't notice, I'm bad enough at making the trips to get rid of hazard waste that I still have half my coolant from the last flush lol. I'll just have to get more used to making trips to the transfer station closest to me since they have better coolant capacities than the O'Reilly's around me.

I understand disposal, I have some brake fluid bottles to get rid of.

I need to flush mine again soon too, I noticed some green in the reservoir.

I'm in awe of your skills. Sure wish I took auto tech in high school so I could at least know where to start with this stuff. Pretty cool...

Well over the next few days I get to pull injectors out of the new truck.
I knew that they were bad but once I tool the tuned FICM off and went back
to stock the truck can't get up enough power to more than putt along in
low gear. Sad that someone let this happen. Lucky for the truck I know how
to fix it. Unlucky for my bank account it will be a full set of injectors. OUCH!

I thought I might bandaid it for a short time but I could not find any RevX.
BillyBob's Off Road did not even have it. Sad when you have to start oiling snakes.
I guess I should not call it that because it does work for a time.

If you're talking to me, I've got ya fooled then, cuz I make it up as I go! I ask experienced folks, read the forums and watch Eric the Car Guy youtube videos haha!!

This is the most I've ever torn a rig apart. In highschool I just did stereos and cosmetic upgrades like rims.

It's petty fun to just tear into a new project or repair job and learn new things. This Ford has been very fun in that regard =)

@Onug I wish I would have taken an Auto class, if I made more money I probably wouldn't do as much as I have. Either way, like NW said we have great resources here on FTE and YouTube now.

@Yahiko why not swap them from the broken truck? Or are you still attempting to save it?

Well funny that you should say that.
Yes I am trying to save it but I will be borrowing some parts.
Not that I want to do the injector job twice but I mush have
a running truck NOW. I will order a full set for it and
swap then back in later. Then put the loaners back where
they came from. The one thing about doing it that way is I
can send the duds off and not have a core fee.
