Got one of four done. More curveballs tonight with tree brake hose/line. Someone who worked on the Ex before me did a number on the nut at the upper end of the brake hose where the brake line attaches, so it's too stripped to even get a grip with brake line wrenches. So that sucks because I can't put all my new steel braided hoses on.
At any rate I got the new Power Stop components on and they look awesome and totally out of place considering the rest of the underside of my Ex is rusty/dirty/ugly. I'm going to try to finish the other three Friday night/Saturday and then Turbo will come bleed my system with his neat tool.
My wife's family invented the term "hangry". So with her on a "juice cleanse" (don't ask; I don't know), when she "asked" for a Starbucks, I just replied "Yes dear...l
She doesn't like cold coffee, so I just kept driving...
@Onug Sounds like quite thr road trip. Safe travels.
@NW Cowboy what penetrating oil are you using? Kroil is expensive but good stuff especially for that brake line. I would probably try and get a vice grip or something on it to get it removed. Would you need to make a new Hardline? What kind of bleeder?
@Yahiko sick again.
I have drill tomorrow, maybe next weekend I'll be swapping my Seadoo fuel pump and working on a Tundra for a friend.
@Bently - good news! That nut is just part of the hose to get a grip while tightening from the nut in the back, a detail i overlooked because I'm a noob. I didn't realize you undo the line in the back and it just slides out, then the bracket clip pops right off and the hose pulls right out. Check out my recent comments over in the What'd Ya Do Today excursion thread. I had a riddle to solve with the front hose labels on the Russell lines... think i figured it out.
i just use wd40 cuz it's what i have. Not very much, things have been coming apart fairly ok, I've used my floor jack handle a few times when my 3foot breaker bar or air wrench can't fit.
turbo has the special bleeder tool so I'll keep going on the other three brakes in the morning and whenever I'm done he'll come over and bleed my system.
I'm turning this ship around, slowly but surely!
Yes, i put zip ties in the two hoses after this pic All put back together and torqued! Even cleaned up the ol rims as best i could at 1215am lol
You must have been in the zone burning the midnight oil. Next time your at the hardware store at least grab some PB blaster. It's much better for rust compared to WD40.
Got the driver rear and passenger front done. As if i need more things to go wrong, one of the wheel studs on the new front powerstop rotor seems a bit cockeyed and i cant get my wheel on. Not really sure what to do now.
