Remind me what you're doing up there? Fishing? Post some pics!
I will when I get down south, internet in and around Alaska is spotty. Smack dab in the middle of the Bering Sea, I'm lucky to get any at all.
For this excursion, my buddy bought a 32' fishing boat in Sitka. We met there, got her seaworthy, inspected, and partially converted for halibut long lining in his home town of St Paul. The next few weeks had stops in Yakutat, Seward, Larsen Bay (west side of Kodiak Island), and Chignik for weather to pass. Then over the last few days, completed the fabrication and conversion. Sea trials checked out Monday so he, his wife, and his cousin are out for halibut now. It took longer than planned, so I'm too late to catch the openings for Salmon in Southeast AK, so I come home, chill for a minute till the phone rings again. It has already, but it was a long trip. Going home first.
I even have a video of a brown bear swimming Yakutat harbor I'm dying to upload..
The sun came out of hiding and everyone ran out to catch it.
I spent the evening removing 2 sink fixtures. What a PITA X2.
One is back in and working well. The other is a bit more work.
Also I am tired of laying on my back at of angles.
Sinks drive me nuts. Conceptually they should work nice and easy, but something always takes extra time to figure out.
We had friends over last night to celebrate the end of the school year. All the kids ran around nuts well into the night. First attempt at wings and brauts on the smoker. Also did nachos. Worked great.
Towed the TT out of storage for cleaning before we do some RVing this summer. Pay no mind to the weight distribution, I had my WD hitch too tight and too high, plus my bags filled up and water tank empty, so I need to reconfigure everything to get my distribution correct.

Nice Nash. We used to have an Arctic Fox. Great trailer. Drove past the factory in La Grande a few months ago and started to miss her.
Wow...I just went over and checked out the Northwood forum. That place is dead. Too bad; it was a great resource and pretty active when I was there back in 2012.

We probably won't have it much longer. Wife's parents are upgrading, so we're going to buy their 31' Jay Feather and sell this one. This Nash is much more setup for two relaxing folks with no young kids and it would be a shame to beat it up as our daughter grows up and we have more kids. The Jay Feather is much more suitable for a growing family. More bed places, isolated bathroom, plus it's almost 3K lighter than the Nash, which is built like a brick house in a good way.

Yeah, the Arctic Fox and Nash trailers are built strong. Their frames are a thing of beauty. Unfortunately, Northwood doesn't put any effort into family designs on those brands (maybe their other brands; not sure). We had one of the last years they built a bunk house, I think it was a 26-Z. Heavy as a *****...I think we were around 8,500lbs fully loaded.
Well time for a cooking experiment.
Smoked pork butt. Hope it does not fart!
This will be the first port smoking. I have done
some beef. I am doing a different loading method and
will have to see how it works. BTW this is wood
charcoal and not electric. I do have a decent
electronic thermometer. So I should not have to
deal with cold meet.
Good luck Sean! Port butt is pretty forgiving. Just get it to the right temp and you're GTG. Even if it's a bit dry, adding your favorite sauce helps bring it back.
I'm starting my father's Traeger in 5 minutes and I'm going to try pork tenderloin that's been marinating for 48 hours. Not sure how it's going to turn out...first time cooking the meat on a smoker I'm not familiar with. Should be FUN!
