Bad news on pics, Onug. My iPhone did not make it back with me from St.Paul. I may or may not get it back. The "find my iPhone" feature does not work without an internet connection, and the local GCI provider will not allow AT&T to tap into their network to do a locate. Rrr. By now the battery is most likely dead as well. Two years of photos/video gone. Not that I spend much time taking them, but there were some good shots in there. My numbers were on the cloud anyway. I did manage a couple shots on the pad of the local seal population just before they got clubbed on the head and made into boots! They're being harvested right about now.
I made it home, hanging with rugrats. My tranny front seal is now leaking, intake manifold is leaking worse. Oil out and air in. Choke plate is stuck open. Intake manifold gasket set arrived, as well as a 4150 rebuild kit for my 4160 Holley. Thank you Summit. It's unlikely the conversion kit (might as well..) will arrive before I head back out again for salmon in a few days, so considering overcarbing a stock, tired 390fe with the new 750cfm I have on the new 460. I'd park it, but the truck serves as a spare vehicle when the Wifeys Mustang has trouble while I'm out. Mustang is tight right now, but there's Murphy and his damn Law.... The 460 is slated for install when I come home this fall, so head shaking on the idea of spending the money and valuable time on a motor and tranny that will be getting torn down the next time I see her. I'm even considering the ultimate sin of dumping a stop leak into the C6, or maybe healthy donation to Joel Olsteen for a healing prayer.
Nice bucket of food, btw. That'll be me for the next couple days! Woohoo! Or dropping the tranny to do a craptastic half-fix and replace ONLY the front seal.
The last days for some seals on St Paul Island, Alaska
No food photos but it was good and not even dry.
Got it to 165ºF then wrapped it up in heavy duty
foil and cooked some more until it got to 195ºF.
Let it sit on the stove for about 20 minutes to rest.
Gof back from picking up some buns. Slabbed it
and put some Jack Daniels BBQ sauce on it and
PORKED OUT on the pork.
I am going to have to make some changes to the BBQ for smoking.
Nice job guys! The loin was nice and moist, but the corn needed a few more minutes. I was surprised how much smoke the corn picked up...can't wait to try that again.
Went to the 4th of July parade in Blaine today. It was our first time, but we'll return for sure. Was really well done and they have a nice crafts fair and car show afterwards. Would still be there if we didn't have to get home to put the ribs on the smoker.
Saw these at the fair and knew they were destined for my garage.
Well, I kept all my fingers. Not sure if the ringing in my ears is worse than before, but the fireworks were epic. We hit the beach and were the only ones with fireworks until these guys showed up. Then another group joined and things went full gonzo. Finally gave my kids a real 4th of July celebration.
My Dad and I are already starting a fund for next year. Need to have the $ ready for the "off the books" fireworks at the Rez.
Well Mom lost her balance and fell again and broke her hip again.
The said that the only other option is a body cast that or she stays
off her feet as much as she can and no weight on that leg.
So this weekend we are going to try and smoke sometri-tip steak.
When I say we I mean I. Just finished the smoked port tonight.

Sean - Sorry to hear about your mom. We are entering that phase of our life too and it's going to be strange having to take care of our parents. Good luck. I hope the tri-tip turns out; my wife keeps asking me to smoke one of those too.
Checking in. Still alive and the Excursion still runs like a charm. Have been keeping busy with family/house/trailer stuff aside from my day job, not much interesting stuff to report.
Checking in from King Cove this time. Sry bout the bad news Yahiko and Bentley. Grats on the good news too Bentley! Ferry spots are good ones, so I hear.
Salmon for me at the moment, and plenty to bring home for BBQ. I'll set some aside for whatever meetup I can make. This particular boat has a much better than average chance of pulling me out of retirement from the crab fleet (yet again), to get a piece of this years King crab season in October.
Onug, I can't pick a favorite. Pics of the food, or the explosives..
BWT the insurance co is not calling it totaled yet. They have a guy coming to look at it this week. But with what I have seem I think it
may be toast. Bent radius arm leaking transfer case that is at an odd angle. Then there is both air bags and drivers side from the door
forward. The passemger side of the box between the cab and the rear wheel. The front bumper is folded up along with some other
thing. It will need some major work on the front 4WD axle. something is bent. Steering gear is done for with the sector shaft snapped.
Oh and all the steering linkage is also done for.
I had a Road Rage incident at Tukwila Costco in my Honda Civic daily driver I'm waiting to be finished up.
@Davey- Have you or know of locals taking a QMED course? Place in San Diego puts it on for about one month, need a bit of Sea Time in a Engine room afterwards though.
